Hope this is allowed - as SIMCA was eventually absorbed into PSA.
Our son-in-law is restoring a SIMCA 1100 LX and we said we would ask on here if any of the PSA vehicles had a front disk brake setup which would fit onto the Simca ?
Obviously its a long shot and possibly the answer might throw up a donor which is rare to find anyway - but something common as muck would be be a great result.
Thanks in advance

Hmmmmm, forgive my memory of Simca model designations having deserted me but, f-w-i-w, if that's the rear engined "mini-Corvair" - probably not, if it's teh fwd R12-esque one, a later/higher spec model?

Re: Simca 1100lx question -
It's the later FWD model. It *may* be the case that the bits off a Horizon/Solara/Simca 1308 will fit with, or Peugeot 304/5.van ordinaire wrote: ↑21 Jan 2018, 20:30 Hmmmmm, forgive my memory of Simca model designations having deserted me but, f-w-i-w, if that's the rear engined "mini-Corvair" - probably not, if it's teh fwd R12-esque one, a later/higher spec model?
Frankly I'm surprised it's not rotted to a pile of bits! My dad had one as a company car in the mid-70s (ironically while he owned the rear engined Simca 1000 as his own car).

You need to be careful with guesses or using old parts lists for this era.
My comment is because I had a problem with a Talbot Horizon, the customer complained that it was eating brake pads and wanted new front discs and pads fitted, the discs supplied didn't fit, the dealer said that was impossible because the whole range was fitted with the same set up.
After a couple of weeks of enquiries in the trade I got a message from an employee at the Coventry factory telling me that because of 'industrial action' there were times when the correct parts were not available and that to keep the assembly line running they fitted anything that they could find.
It turned out that this Horizon had, when it left the factory, the front brakes from a Renault 9 fitted, heaven knows how that happened Renault were not even in the PSA group.

I do remember even having the chassis No: wouldn't guarantee you the right parts for a Hillman Avenger: the car that re-defined "parts bin special"!
Then there were those Bedford CF's which, thanks to industrial action, were produced without headlamps.

Re: Simca 1100lx question -
Thanks for all the replies. Yes , it is a front engined car.
We havn't seen the car in the flesh. Just helping with advice. Its not rotted away coz we are in France where the climate is kinder.
We looked at Wikipedia and saw that this car should already have discs so we will have to check with Maxime (son in law) to be sure.
