Long time since I heard this one.

Direct link through the Zombies to Rod Argent a Zombie himself of course plenty of keyboard twiddling behind a strong riff in this version.

Notably, Rick Wakeman described the keyboard twiddling as "the greatest Hammond B-3 solo ever."

Recent airing on the radio, and a decent link from Hold your Head up.... Wilson Phillips

Top quality in my opinion!

Regards Neil

PS That is just a tremendous song and performance and it gets better with each play.

And from that of course the Mamas & Papas:
Chynna Phillips of Wilson Phillips is the daughter of Michelle and John Phillips.

Michelle was a beautiful woman and could have made far more money and fame had she stayed a model.
The only one surviving.

Late on at the PE with the lights dimmed, and the punters in a mellow mood what better than 8 minutes of gentle blues and the Hammond B3 being given a decent workout by Jimmy Smith ( and a decent link from Monday Monday to Stormy Monday!)

"Monday's child is fair of face
Tuesday's child is full of grace....."

With added Citroen bonus :-D

And for good measure, the original CX advert with the Spitting Image spoof at the end :-D

Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(

Cracking Ads, I remember them fondly and I couldn't think of anyone better to have done them than Grace - Speaks French, loves the culture and is a bit quirky to say the least.

On the back of Jimmy Smith's Stormy Monday and his virtuosity on the Hammond B3 up popped

Barbara Dennerlein

..and I have to say she is absolutely brilliant. Her footwork...second to none!

You probably have to like Blues/Jazz and the sound of the Hammond but worth an investigation on youtube if you do.

Nothing like Grace Jones...so no links from me just yet

Link- Slave to the Rhythm....Rhythm of the Rain

Normally like to get as close to the original as possible so that would be the Cascades from 1962, but when I saw Dan Fogelberg had done a version...no contest. The Landlord likes Dan!

PE Jukebox Advent Calendar

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Groundhog Day!

Theres' enough interest in this track for old Groundhogs fans, starts off with a very "Smiths-Esque" riff, and just develops. (Decades before the Smiths of course)

First door on the Pickled Egg Jukebox Advent Calendar

Regards Neil

PS Bonus one for your car's eight-track.....superb driving heavy riff stuff got to play it loud!

They could do authentic blues too

P.E.Jukebox-Advent Calendar!

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Day 2

Enjoyed reviving the Groundhogs on Day 1, but to avoid scraping the Groundhogs barrel and a repeat of Groundhog day, entries as ever invited and gratefully received :-D

And for the purposes of this period of advent it's a free for all no need for dubious links!

Grace Jones, a recent appearer at the PE, did get an airing on Graham Norton's Radio programme today, unusually with "La Vie en Rose" thats going to get the nod from me unless some alternatives are put up.

Everyone can join in, would be nice if more did. It really is easy, and even if you aren't familiar with how to embed your song choice, there are plenty who can, and add the appropriate link to turn your words into music!

Give it a go

That'll do nicely for Day 2 Steve

Sophie de Graaf - Yvonne Leek - Amanda Muller

Random link allowing for a deliberate misspelling in the bands name...Peter Hammill et al, Van der Graaf Generator make their debut at the Pickled Egg. Nice and short wouldn't want to inflict "A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers" on the PE just yet. :-D

Had a Van Der Graaf Generator LO here for years. Must play it one day.

Haven't played any of the albums by Auf Der Maur for a while either :)
