I'd be surprised. There'd also be the extra handbrake bits on the calipers to remove/disable.

306 bits should be a straight swap though...

Unlikely as there may be a wheel clearance issue... Xantia big brakes are seriously big...

However, standard-sized Activa calipers may... I have a set of those still sitting on my workshop floor following doing the big brake update to Zel's Activa... If you want to see if they will work on a ZX you can have them with pleasure...

As you say Mike, handbrake mechanisms might pose difficulties...

Well that was strange.....

Just did a little trip out for milk to the garage 4 miles down the road....all was well
Came out, keyed in the code, started the engine, 2/3 fires then it died !

Check fuel pump, nope, that was working.
Did a battery off, no change
Pulled all fuses, no change
Pulled relays, no change....still not starting.
Waited with battery off, nope, no start after 10mins.

Put all tools away, closed boot ready to go home and recover it tomorrow, I thought "oh one last try".....yep, it started !

I have heard that the ES9 is prone to flooding, but it is not something that I have experienced often.

It did not "sound" like that.....it ran 2 / 3 turns then died......I would bet 90% electrical. Like the fuel pump was not working.

It's happened to me Alasdair, exactly that.... It was so bad with me on one occasion I thought the timing belt had snapped...

Most of my ES9-enginjed cars often suffered a very rough idle when started from half-hot - the idle speed swing between about 250rpm and 900rpm until it got itself sorted out...

PSA engines just don;t like starting when half-hot

Just one of its quirks...

Methinks Alsadair has a thing for 'X' Citroen vehicles! Anybody got a BX, CX or XM they want to pass onto a good home? He might be your man!
