Not a Tecalamit. It's a Swiss Wanner and a jolly good one too. It injects at a very high pressure and really clamps onto the nipple...

It was dad's and he had it from when I was a very small child... It must be a good 50 years old...

That's the same as the smaller one I mentioned that I have 'somewhere' Neil, except that mine has a loop handle, like scissors, instead of the pad.

If this is engineered correctly the 1700 th reply on POTD might as well be....

Mind they look nicer in colour but D1700 is a bit of a rarity on camera

I like monochrome pictures Neil... In so many ways they are more creative and artistic than colour - especially poor colour which sadly many pictures have...

How about this shot of Odney Manor ;)

I took this last year near Blue Anchor on the West Somerset Railway... Seeing it in monochrome make the scene look more 1961 than 2016!

Continuing the old tool theme, I dug these out today :)

A Gunson 'Testune' for measuring dwell, RPM as well as volts, ohms and points condition!

And a Gunson 'Tachostrobe' timing light...

Both will find good use on the Skoda...

How I've managed to keep hold of them all these years I don't know...

I'm wondering if I still have my Gunson 'Colortune' still knocking around somewhere.. Not come across it just yet...

During my recent manic clearout. I found mine!
Unfortunately, the bottle of liquid had long since evaporated.

Just gave my Colourtune to someone on autoshite :)
Can't find the grease gun, not in any of the expected places, nor the unexpected ones.
It will be right under my nose, had it in may hand within the last couple of weeks.

Gave the 'proper' one away, unused. Bought to do eldest daughter's Mini rear suspension, but she had sold it before I was able to get the grease gun out.

Excellent Jim :-D

Looks like you can still buy Gunson Colourtune kits. Much more expensive than a trained ear though! Unlikely that Gunson will be making any money from me at those prices!

Old 7828 looks good in colour though! Known now as Norton Manor according to wiki.

Shocked at how much a Gunson Colortune now costs Neil

You're right about a trained ear and mine is still well enough trained!

Didn't realise 7828 had changed name... But it makes sense for a resident WSR locomotive to be named after a manor in its home locality...

It's not quite the manor one might initially and usually associate with the word manor though...

Still a lot cheaper than my Colourtune substitute:

I was intending to post a picture of an old favourite spanner, but I put it down somewhere this afternoon and haven't seen it since.
