TV ads and stuff

Post by doctle »

I been a bit ill recently so watching too much television and I noticed some odd things. Adverts for computer games often say "not actual game footage" when they show images and this seems odd to me. I also saw an ad for shampoo that said 87% of 111 women agreed this stuff is great or words to that effect. My math says this statistic is mathematically impossible!

It's probably me but I think PT Barnum was correct about the high birthrate of fools. A good example is advertising so called "supermilk", this was milk before everything useful was removed, it used to be dumped or fed to pigs now it has minuscule amounts of vitamins added, vitamins that you could easily get by eating your own hair, and it's sold as a healthy product to hip and trendy people. Full fat milk tastes good and has 4% fat. If anyone offers offers you tea with this instead of milk ask for a glass of water

has anyone else noticed that, in general, if its advertised on TV it tends to be over-priced.... go by something similar if it appeals, but (usually) not that particular product. The effectiveness of good Marketing.....

My eldest who has just started senior school, age 11, Loves the adverts, pays more attention to them than anything else! Often recites them or the favourite is 'you know on blah blah blah ad?.' Err No dear.....
Maybe something to do with youtube and the plethora of adds adorning every video that she Must watch!

In one way it worries me but then again, I recall we doing that as kids and I'm now speaking about 50 years ago!

I can remember a time when I loved adverts but now I hate them with a passion...

Install Adblock + or Ublock Origin - I haven't seen an advert in YouTube in years.
