What did you think of the Honda (couple of pages back)?

I rather like it... Right size, rather attractive and refreshingly different...

Only one on the way home (a solitary Leaf of course) and absolutely zero in IKEA carpark today full to capacity with ICE's SUV's and Diesels, and nose to tail traffic entering and exiting, wasting gallons of fossil fuel.

Marginally entertaining watching a huge white Jag SUV (Why do Jag bother with such things?) attempting to sneak into the only space available, and the driver attempting to get out once in!

Mind you the rusty banger looks like a thing of the past if you scan the average carpark in the UK.

A white Tesla on my evening dog walk, not a local car parked up for the night at a local hostelry...and not even plugged in. Must be planning a trip to the Washington Supercharger! if they are heading South or the Edinburgh SuperCharger if they are heading North. or maybe even the Gretna Green Supercharger if going over to the West Side.

Hadn't heard of the Washington Supercharger!
It is literally 50 yards from one of my daughter's houses, a mile and a half from mine and I pass within a quarter mile of it each morning.

Haven't spotted any EVs for ages. Oblivious :(

It was a Model X so if this blurb from the TESLA website is to be believed
Meet Model X

Model X is the safest, fastest and most capable sport utility vehicle in history. With all-wheel drive and a 100 kWh battery providing 351 miles of range, Model X has ample seating for seven adults and all of their gear. And it’s ludicrously fast, accelerating from zero to 60 miles per hour in as quick as 2.9 seconds.
Model X is the SUV uncompromised.
Yes 351 miles of range should have most of Britain covered, so no need to have an extension cable from overnight room to car park in this instance!

Lots of autumn Leafs (Leaves?) now appearing at our EV charging area at work... There's something distinctly surreal about seeing a row of cars all plugged into their pillars - like a row of sick people in an Intensive Care Unit... Made all the moreso by the flashing lights and display on the pillars to show the state of charging....

351 miles will be the never-achieved-in-real-life European NEDC rating. Look up the US EPA rating for what it will really do ;)

Edit: according to Wikipedia:
The P100D has a 100 kWh battery, accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 2.9 seconds (0 to 100 km/h in 3.0 seconds) and 289 mi (465 km) of range.
So 289 miles is realistic for the top of the line Model X.

I'm no fan of the shape of the Tesla but I saw one dishing out a surprise to a guy on a Yamaha R1 1-litre superbike away from the lights by the Shell garage on the A30 in Virginia water. They're seriously quick for a big car.

Even Queen Mary II doesn't have that much torque.

Hyundai Ioniq Electric.
New one on me, hadn't heard of them until I was stuck behind one at a roadworks this evening.

Tag line from Hyundai here

http://www.hyundai.co.uk/new-cars/ioniq ... lsrc=aw.ds
One car. Three powertrains. Ioniq
So theres an IONIQ Hybrid, there's an IONIC Plug-In Hybrid, and there's an IONIC Electric

Maximum points only for the 100% Electric Steve! but probably a spotters nightmare as they no doubt look the same, apart from the badge spotting for those with a pair of binoculars handy.

I'm baffled.

Saw something yesterday (maybe day before... can't remember). Heading through central MK, silently so I didn't really see it until it had passed me.

If I didn't know better I'd say it was an EV-1. ...as far as I'm aware though, there aren't any in the UK. Not running anyway. Absolutely baffled as to what it was though. Bright red, floating roof, enclosed rear wheels and oddly proportioned as only that car was. Definitely not an Insight, as while sharing some styling cues, that's a good bit smaller.

Quite a fan of the EV-1, so would trust myself to recognise one if I saw it...hence why I'm so confused. I have nearly bought an early Insight twice (same car, two occasions) now.

My only theories at this point are:

1. It was a real one, and had been shipped in for TV film work or something - though why here? ...though I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be the most creative hiding place one got stashed when GM announced they were recalling and cubing them all.

2. It's a very convincing replica.

3. I totally mistook what I saw.

4. ...? No idea... I'm baffled.

It was almost immediately followed by a Model S, X and the electric version of the Kia Soul...hence my thinking publicity event.

Will be keeping my eyes very carefully peeled in case it surfaces again...not least because if it is real, I really want a proper close up look at it!
