Post Editing.....changes to prevent ?

Post by Stickyfinger »

I find that my blog post thread now cannot be edited

I wish to update it with improved images but find this is now not possible. This will result in images having to be place "out of context" which seems a little retrograde to me.

What is the reason for this limitation ?

It's probably due to with the 're-writing history' issue Alasdair (posts can usually be edited 14 days after posting unless there has been a subsequent post. It's to stop things being retrospectively changed - or somebody going back and deleting the content in their posts that could affect all the subsequent posts.

I'm not sure whether this can be overridden on individual threads like blogs, or whether it apples globally. I've raised it with the team.

In the interim, if you want me to update any pictures for you, send me the link and the pics and I'll be happy to change them for you.

Thanks....

I can understand some aspects of it....however on "Blogs" etc I think it is retrograde.
Sending images etc is far from practicable and would be time consuming/open to errors (esp with my skills)

Is historical editing really a significant "threat" ?

I have re-enabled general post editing.

There may be further changes in future.

I do hope there is no abuse.....it would be a shame as that would just be destructive.

For me is is just adding/changing some photos and some better "links to info" in the correct sequence.
Some recent posts have used a couple of images and that has shown up some areas that need updating from what was known at the time. A lot of the stuff comes from info gained via the ACTIVA France club which I have only recently joined.

Cheers
