Not me....... electronics.
My television, a 42" flat screen job I bought in a bankruptcy sale about ten years ago, started to have problems, took a long time to get going, it always had a fault from the time I bought it a single black line down the centre of the picture which I just lived with.
Last week that line suddenly became 3" wide then the whole of the right hand side of the screen went white, time for a new set.
So I ordered one from Tesco Direct, to be delivered to my local Tesco.
In the meantime I removed the old one from its wall fixing, thinking I might need some help to lift the new one into place, so I was quite surprised when I went to pick it up and the slight little girl at customer services picked it up and popped it onto the trolley.
Bought it home and installed it, it's a 43" LG smart tv with built in Freeview and Free-sat ........and other stuff I don't yet understand
So out of curiosity I checked the weight on the box, 10.1 Kg, weighed the old one on my luggage scales 56Kg and that doesn't include the additional Free-sat box.
Lost some weight.

I was a TV engineer for 50 years and I don't understand the modern ones. Yes they are all pretty light now, the last of the large screen CRT sets could weight up to 1 cwt, I used to make frequent visits to the osteopath.
I bought my current TV , a Samsung from John Lewis with a 5 year guarantee as I knew I wouldn't be able to repair it. It did go wrong after about 3 years so I had to do something I had never done before - call a TV engineer out. This was the first new set we had ever bought for ourselves.
I have repaired a couple since I retired 13 years ago but they were only power supply faults, I wouldn't know about anything else.

Re: Lost some weight.
Old one given the weight and failure symptoms was a plasma?
The current crop of LCD screens with LED backlights often do weigh next to nothing.
Don't look for this one to last 10 years though!

I have a 50" plasma by LG. Had it about ten years. Superb picture but no audio-out unfortunately-ish.
It hasn't been on for a couple of years now and when it was I only watched DVDs and piped the sound through the stereo.
At this rate it should last forever, Weighs a ton so not looking forward to having to take it down off the wall.
