I know Morecambe and Wise were in The Sweeney, but I don't think Benny from ABBA was ever in it

Boney M were constructed by Frank Farian. One of Frank's other constructions was Far Corporation. Far Corporation covered Steely Dan's Rikki Don't Lose That Number.

Play the first few seconds of this and you'll see why I chose it :-D

Like that Bobins! Big Steely Dan fan...hadn't dug up that little "homage" paid to Horace Silver by Becker and Fagen as those jazz musicians do. Horace Silver just autoplayed on to John Coltrane doing his version of "Favourite things" from Sound of Music! same but totally different!

I think Ricky dont lose that number was more an upfront open bit of admitted nicking. There was a court case over this one though and Keith Jarrett pursued it to get co-writing credits.

and carrying on the "samples" link Joni's Hejira has a nice little "sample" of Benny Goodman in too!

"Listen...strains of Benny Goodman
Coming through' the snow and the pinewood trees"

If you've never listened to Jaco Pastorius on bass, this is one of the best examples of his work in my opinion.

Now the song can have a totally different feel. This is what happened when Joni Mitchell Jams with Herbie Hancock, Bobby McFerrin, Wayne Shorter, David Sanborn and Larry Klein. Just mad everyone just blasting away Joni chewing gum and having a good time! Love it!

Dare you to give it a try

Jaco Pastorius played bass for quite a few people, but he was probably best known for being in Weather Report......
....Weather Report.... Stormy Monday - Allman Bros or Clapton ?.... Big Change In The Weather - G. Rafferty ? .... Stormy Weather - Etta James ? Nick Drake and Bryter Layter ?
For me it'll have to be John Martyn - Bless The Weather

I suppose the obvious one here is "Stormy Weather" but instead, as heard recently on Classic FM:

And a radio for Jim :)

And if I sneak another in - the link being Ronald Binge.

Elizabethan Serenade.

Have to admit to believing that these two had been around forever.
The Elizabethan Serenade I presumed to be from E1R's reign, not actually written for EIIR.

Brace yourselves once more.....

John Martyn Bless the Weather.........now the Shipping Forecast... yes and now Ronald Binge Elizabethan Serenade? impossible.....no looks like the young girl has her parasol up..must be sunny weather and therefore a .....

Short leap to Weatherfield and Coronation Street

and Minnie Caldwell and her cat Bobby.....

Well that leads us to a bit of gentle soul/funk/jazz from Bobby Caldwell. Nice end of evening stuff, autoplay on and lots of other good stuff flows on

Supertramp - Take The Long Way Home

Looks like that one has gone now,

Plenty of stuff of Roger Hodgson doing live versions, but "original" Supertramp stuff tends to disappear rapidly from youtube.
