Is it just me
Does anyone else think the Renault names for the new crossover cars Captur, Kadjar, and Koleos are irritating names for what seem like very good cars?

You've remembered them though... that's good marketing in itself! I don't mind them actually. It makes a refreshing change

Re: Is it just me
Here's the full set (I think)
Current vehicles in production by Renault
Captur (2013–present)
Clio (1990–present)
Duster (2011–present)
Espace (1984–present)
Fluence (2010–present)
Kadjar (2015-present)
Koleos (2007-present)
Kwid (2015-present)
Never seen a Kwid, or were they thinking of Quid!

Koleos sounds Korean, Kadjar sounds like it's made by Tata and so on, maybe it's the voice over on the Irish ads that irritate me but something does

Yes, as is Xantia, Xsara, Saxo and Picasso...
Peugeot number series have their own coolness too... As do Citroen two letter such as DS, CX, BX, AX, GS, XM and 2CV

I can't help feeling that today, just as styling is going, manufacturers are trying to be as outlandish as possible now...
To very poor and in my view, negative effect...

Can't argue with any of that! I'm kinda curious about the buyers too, who would spent £20k on a car called a Yugo, Polenez or Wartburg yet Renault is a top seller in Ireland with awful dull boring names

Not just Renault most cars have very odd bland names now. Maybe it's nostalgia but Hunter, Victor, Scimitar, Avenger, Alpine even Miafoiri. OK I Know there were duller names too like Viva and Allegro (square steering wheel anyone)?

Re: Is it just me
no idea what the cars are like, but names do seem incredibly silly to me.
Nissan's 'Qashqai' seems especially poorly considered... suggests to me that you need lots of cash for it, similarly the Renault Kwid.
I had a brief convo a few months ago with someone who told me he had a Renault Kaptur, took me a while to work out that he was referring to his car.
...but what do we know eh!
