Any Xantia driver using chip pan oil

Post by crapday69 »

I used to use sunflower oil in my Xantia back in the day without any problems. Was usually a 50/50 mix but on the day I traded it in, I was low on fuel so stopped at Safeway and bought a couple of litres of sunflower oil, enough to get me to the Citroen dealership. Those where the days when a litre of sunflower oil was 43p and diesel was 89p so was a big saving.

Im using 50/50 rapeseed oil/diesel when I can get it cheap enough. Car actually runs a bit smoother with it

Its cleaner too IIRC as burning rapeseed or sunflower is 100% clean. This only the locus system can bet used or was it the Bosch lol as one of them suffered seal leaks with the cooking oil.

Its amazing how cooking oil 12 years ago was 43p now its about £1.50 a litre. I used to go to Lidl and buy loads at a time. Would have been better if you knew a few chippy/cafe owners.

I work as a delivery driver for a chippy/kebeb/pizza house. Not tried filtering the used stuff yet. Dont really think I will. I can go to the wholesalers where 20 litres is about £17, and if I take in 20 litres of used then I get £4 back. Thats not where he buys his oil from but they dont need to know that. It also depends on him giving me his card.
