Particle Filter
I’m now getting a warning something like “paticule filter regeneration urgent”. Firstly what is and what does it do? Secondly can I change it myself? Thanks

Re: Particle Filter
This means that your car has been unsuccessfully trying to regenerate the particle filter and it is now seriously in need of regeneration.
This can happen when you undertake lots of short journeys, where the engine does not reach operating temperature coupled with a sufficient speed for a certain mileage for the regeneration cycle to complete. In short, the particle filter is clogging up with soot, and because it cannot complete a regeneration cycle, it cannot burn off the soot and will risk clogging.
If you don't get this done soon, there will come a point where it will not be able to regenerate (circa 70% - 80% plus) and will require removal, deep cleaning or replacement.
What you need to do is to give the car a good long run, let it get to temperature and keep it in 4th or 5th gear for a good 15-20 minutes at over 40 MPH in order for it to attempt a regeneration.
Here's a video explaining the system

Re: Particule filter
The exhaust has a particulate filter that needs to burned off regularly through increased exhaust temperature. This is known as regeneration.
This is normally done automatically for you as long as certain conditions are met, such as additive in the fuel, coolant up to normal temperature, engine speed and load above a certain threshold, fuel tank at least 1/4 full etc. There's more to it than that, though if a main condition is not met for whatever reason, regenerations can be aborted and fail, leading to critical clogging of the filter and exhaust.
The first thing you can try is to get the car up to normal temperature and then drive it for about 10 minutes at 40mph or above (the faster the better) in fourth gear.

Re: Particle Filter
Thank you all, a good run and message has not reappeared
