13k miles, looks spotless, for £4995. If I didn't already have my Ion and it wasn't 341 miles away from me I probably would have bought it! (Mine was £4200 for 28k miles and has noticeable scratches and scrapes, and is in a more boring silver)

I suppose another trick would be to change your location in the search to a few different areas and triangulate based on the distances...

Red is best but I agree white is an improvement over silver...

One other thing I saw in Orkney was a Leaf with L plates on it! Presumably this would give you an auto only licence if you took your test in it - although no experience of starting an ICE engine. No different I suppose to the 'old days' where you could do your test having only driven a warm engine, and then be presented with a recalcitrant engine with a manual choke on a cold morning!

You'd definitely get an automatic only license sitting your test in an EV!

Technically an EV is mechanically a "single speed manual without a clutch" as it doesn't bear any resemblance to an actual ICE auto box but from a driver controls perspective it is an auto and missing that all important 3rd pedal!

Starting an ICE engine these days is no harder than starting an EV really - press a button. It's not like the good old days of struggling to get a recalcitrant GS to start on a cold morning with low battery and lots of choke.

Starting a 60s Ford on a cold, damp winter morning was always 'fun' and a bit of a lottery... Amongst the easiest (easier perhaps) were starters were the old BMC vehicles with their SU electric fuel pumps and SU carbs...

I always found my R4s would start under any conditions with care but not my R5 - that one could be difficult sometimes...

Oi! I'm 41 and my first three cars were all carburettors with chokes.

Not that I would want to go back to that nowadays - fuel injection with auto idle control and enrichment is certainly an improvement.

Not to mention a fuel injected engine doesn't have to be nearly as rich even when cold as a carburettor - the reason being that with a carburettor with cold intake manifolds the air fuel mixture is flowing through the intake manifold and a lot of it condenses out into droplets in the walls - meaning you need to make it even richer to get the right mixture at the cylinder... but with a fuel injected engine only air is flowing through the intake manifold with the fuel injected right onto the valve - so there isn't much path for it to travel where it can condense back into droplets, so it only needs to be a little bit richer when cold, and not for very long.
