A while back I posted about my windows always steaming up after it had rained.
Today, I had a look around after it got very annoying. The carpet under in the rear passenger footwell was damp. I got my fingers underneath the join between the two carpets under the front passenger seat, and found a lake! Very wet indeed.
So, this is obviously what is causing my steamy windows.
Onto the next question - what do I do? Obviously taking the carpet up and drying it out would be a good idea but it'll only happen again unless I fix it. Last time I asked people mentioned the sunroof drainoff thing - is this very likely to be the cause of a wet part in this area of the car? Can you please let me know the proceedure for unblocking this area?
Many thanks indeed, and lets hope it stops raining for long enough to let me dry the car out!

Hi
If you do a search on sunroof, you will find loads of info such as you are asking for. Meanwhile, here's one I prepared earlier.....
In my experience, water leaks are nearly always connected to the sunroof. The sunroof is designed to let in water through to a tray in the headlining. This tray is then drained by four tubes which exit from each corner. The tubes exit behind each wheel arch.
Try opening the sunroof, then carefully pour water into the tray you will see there. Depending on the angle the car is parked at, you should see the water draining freely from each corner. If it doesn't then try unblocking the tube. Compressed air works, but I have had success by poking up from below with a cycle brake inner wire, CAREFULLY, with the tray full of water.
Hope this helps.

ive found that a leak in this place is usually always the seal between the scuttle panel and windscreen (sometimes due to a w/screen being replaced and not sealed properly).if you can move or lift the scuttle panel that'll be the problem, remove and clean up panel & windscreen contact area then re-seal.

Thanks for the advice. I've done a search for sunroof and will be out with a long pokey thing soon
Where do I find the scuttle panel? Forgive my ignorance, but if it was related to the windscreen how does the water get to the rear passenger footwell? Surely it'd be in the front passenger footwell?
The windscreen does have a problem though - its a little white around some of the edges. This has been there since we bought and since it was only a £1200 car, we used it to haggle the price down.

the scuttle is the black plastic panel at the bottom of the windscreen on the outside, the water leaks in past that then through the heater blower motor duct.sorry i was just assuming, cos when it comes in there it can soak the whole passanger side, front AND rear footwells & under seat,it can be wet underneath but still dry on the surface.its like a huge sponge under the carpet

Hi I had the same problem \still got the same problem, sealed the scuttle panel at the top also poured water into the sunroof it ran out in the region of the front nearside wheel arch, we also noticed it entering the passanger front compartment at the bottom of the window arch and door arch near where it meets the floor inside the passenger compartment, I couldnt get the old pipe out so slipped a thinner bore pie inside it as it must have had a hole in it, any way the water is still getting in from some where, I will have to see if it is coming in from the nearside rear of the sun roof, but as you say theres a lot of water there, anyway if I have missed something perhaps some one could put me straight.

regarding the front window screen, how could i tell if mine is leaking? or has been replaced?,
i have noticed a steaming up in the drivers side bottom right hand corner, could this be caused by the screen being replaced & not being sealed correctly?, plus i also got a drip fall onto my hand tonight whist driving, it seemed to come from the drivers side top corner. i have checked all the drain holes for the sunroof, so it not them over flowing, anyone got any more ideas????????
