Re: citroen c8 starter motor removal
Hi Alan - well, this is interesting - I think you weren't kidding!
The only thing I have are the parts diagrams for the 2 types of Starter motor fitted - there are 2 variations and subtle differences. These probably won't help, apart from the part numbers and helping to identify the correct one on your C8.
There are NO procedures listed for the Starter removal I'm sorry to say, but not only that, Haynes don't even do a manual for the C8 and even a copy of a French manual I have on the C8 only lists the electrical diagram and nothing to do with the removal and fitting! So I'm afraid I can't help you further, but another member may well have had some experience with this.
Solenoid controlled permanent magnet series starter. It is fixed at the front, on the cylinder block:

Re: citroen c8 starter motor removal
I'm sure I've done one in the past & don't remember it being anything terrible. The book time is only 1.1 hours.
Right at the front of the engine, 3 bolts holding it in & I'm sure some pipework in the way. Probably will be easier to drop it out from underneath.

Here's what the manual says, sorry they're in the wrong order, bottom up.

Re: citroen c8 starter motor removal
Hopefully it's easier than the starter on a 1.6 HDi - despite 2 goes at it, I have yet to be able to get the top bolt out!!

Re: citroen c8 starter motor removal
Interestingly though Gibbo, none of those procedures are listed for the DW10ATED4 Engine for this VIN. There are 4 unfiltered procedures listed under the C8 for engines:
DW10CB PEF DTR or DW10CTED4
DW12BTED4
DW10UTED4
DW10BTED4
...and they are all quite different by the looks of things.

Re: citroen c8 starter motor removal
I can't see the fitting of a starter motor on a 2.0 Litre HDI engine varying much whichever model it's fitted in, just the access to it would be different, all three of my recent HDIs have been the same, three Allen head bolts through the gearbox bell housing.
The starter motor on the latest one with the Aisin auto box has a different shaped end plate.

Re: citroen c8 starter motor removal
No, I think you're right, unless the access is the issue on the C8 with this engine.
