I think by the time I've sorted the MOT I will be into around £800 so I guess it's ok. but I still haven't given it a long run so there's still a chance it could all turn into a disaster.

That's a question I haven't an answer for yet Jim, I will obviously have to sell one of them, the current one is running fine after the last little episode, just ticked over 110k miles and sweet as a nut, the project one is 76k miles, two years younger and an estate so logically I should move on to that and sell the hatchback.

Fantastic achievement to date Gibbo, and I take a particular interest in your sourcing and fitting of the replacement auto box. Once its all sorted and settled, a bit more detail on how you did it and got it to work would be interesting to me. I have the same box on a Vectra now having done 125,000 miles since a £2,600 bill for a rebuild 5 years ago.

Well I got the ABS sorted but haven't so far been able to cure the ESP problem, changed the suggested part but no result, lost the power steering too, haven't tried to find the cause of that yet as it was time to take a break.

Well I took this for its first proper on-road drive today, around a twelve mile round trip for an MOT, all seems ok and it passed the test with no advisories.
A couple of not unexpected faults showed up, got a depollution fault message on my return trip, the RH indicator doesn't self cancel and the LH window doesn't come back up from the driver's door switch but works ok from its own switch.
SH gearbox seemed a bit iffy at the start but quickly came good.
Tax it tomorrow and give it a proper long run later in the week maybe, could be all that's needed to fix the depollution fault as it says it hasn't had a regen for over 400 miles.

The window issue could well be the switches on the driver door module. I had a problem with mine in that the front passenger window would not auto close from the driver switch (but it would from its own switch). My Lexia diagnosed a driver door switch fault, so I opened it up and found some dirt on the relevant contact. After I gave the circuit board a thorough cleaning (with proper contact cleaner) the problem went away. When Trainman had a similar issue on the C5 estate he had, I recommended he checked that same switch, which he did, and it worked for him as well.

Yes James it's most likely the wet got into the switch when the window was left down while it was in the field for months, I've had them to pieces before and they're usually fixable..................but it's wet and cold out there this morning.

Two points.
Do you notice that much space difference in the estate v hatchback.
The other point is for Neil. I had an 03 plate Vectra on the ramp here for a drop link and oil change. It was dire on the front sub frame. Dangerous with corrosion. Those plastic trims holding and hiding corrosion. Check yours out Neil.

I haven't really considered the space yet too busy sorting the other stuff, it certainly looks more spacious when you stand back.
I was going to tax it today then thought it would be more sense to wait until the new month starts.
The tailgate needs new gas struts which I've just ordered, I may have more to say on that when they arrive.

It might be worth spraying a bit of 3 in 1 oil onto the struts. I did that on the ones for my C5, and it seems to have helped.

This doesn't have struts as such it has them behind the headlining in the roof space onto the hinges so not open to view, Citroen calls them props, part number 8731.F4
