Of course I liked that one Steve Probably the ultimate conversion you could do, and nice to see Jaguar taking a bit of a lead themselves.

Yes, the floor is rather swish in there, as is the whole place... It even sports a hedge (real by the looks of it) hiding a home charging point!

Unless they also have Hybrids on display ? Those should be capable of causing oil drops on the floor and gassing people. Although in most cases they could probably drive it in and out of the building in EV only mode.

Re: Electric cars/vans/bikes-Conversions/Secondhand..etc
The One Show just did a story on the new Hybrid EV London black cabs that we've mentioned before:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b ... w-17102017
It's not very technical but its still a good watch. The overall impression I got is that cab drivers are worried about the lack of infrastructure (eg charge points) in the area - which is something that certainly needs to be addressed, especially when the new black cab starts rolling off the production line next month!

He ditched the 1098cc engine ? in 1953 it would have had an 803cc engine, so maybe it's already been played with enginewise, they never used the 1098cc engine until the very last of the Moggies.
Man is, by nature, a lazy beast, he does not need twice encouraging to do nothing.

Yes, but at what cost! That amount of money would have bought him an awful lot of petrol...
I debated going electric as a little electric car would do all I need but the cold, hard economies just do not stack up...
The man is crazy. The old A series could be made to be very frugal and already he's tax and MOT free...
Just what was the point?

Re: Electric cars/vans/bikes-Conversions/Secondhand..etc
We've talked about Hydrogen fuel cell (HFCV) versus battery electric before and that the total system efficiency from power plant to wheels is very low in the Hydrogen case, so it's interesting to see some actual figures in the flow chart in this article:
https://electrek.co/2017/10/26/toyota-e ... -hydrogen/
In short, assuming you generate Hydrogen from electrolysis using renewable electricity (instead of steam reforming of natural gas, which is how most Hydrogen is made today) then depending on whether you compress the gas for transport or liquify it, the efficiency at the wheel is only 23% or 19% respectively for Hydrogen (on a par with a petrol engine) compared to 69% for an EV which has charged through the national grid.
Ouch! And yet Toyota persists in pushing forward with HFCV's...

With that kind of efficiency hydrogen would indeed seem to be a dead-end...
The CSMA/Boundless members magazine this month has devoted a very large part to EVs and Hybrids and it makes interesting reading. Some really good articles within and worth a read if you can get hold of a copy...
First I knew there was an EV VW Golf available...
It's available on-line but to members only by the looks of it...

An interesting study published by Stanford University. https://static1.squarespace.com/static/ ... 051517.pdf
Yes, it's US-centric, but as the saying goes, when America sneezes the UK gets a cold.

We are on the cusp of one of the fastest, deepest, most consequential
disruptions of transportation in history. By 2030, within 10 years of
regulatory approval of autonomous vehicles (AVs), 95% of U.S. passenger
miles traveled will be served by on-demand autonomous electric vehicles
owned by fleets, not individuals, in a new business model we call “transport-
as-a-service” (TaaS). The TaaS disruption will have enormous implications
across the transportation and oil industries, decimating entire portions
of their value chains, causing oil demand and prices to plummet, and
destroying trillions of dollars in investor value — but also creating trillions of
dollars in new business opportunities, consumer surplus and GDP growth.
