Excellent Alasdair :) She's looking very good in the pictures :) I take it she's now at yours then...

I may be able to come and collect this coming weekend if a cunning plan works out ;)

Don't worry too much about cleaning her...

Cleaned (Jet washed) the engine bay.....

And did a very quick pass with some compound using the machine polisher on the front wing to see how the paint cleaned up....it has quite a LOT :)

Not a clue Jim, it is on Avalon Citroen (Wells) plates however.....so not travelled far.

If you want to get some white paint sorted I will do the touch ups for you.....I will treat the areas and zinc primer ready for next week.

Yeh, the paint should polish up and glaze OK.

Just keep.the TFR well clear from it, or it will have it back to a totally Matt finish in seconds!

Happened to me with two different cars at hand car washes despite my asking the folks there not to use it...

LOL, it could not be flatter if you painted it with Farrow & Ball Chalk ! :)

As Polar white is a lacquer free paint it will matt off very quickly....not really worried about using it as it will be compounded anyway and a sealer applied with the buffer machine/pad (also machine applied) prior to a full wax polish and an acrylic "finishing" cream.

I just cannot have a dirty car on my driver, it makes me twitch :)

Interesting, not heard of the sealing phase...what would be used for that? Curious as currently three out of the four cars in my driveway have no clear coat, so anything that can help them shrug off the elements has to be a good thing.

My usual approach has always to be to polish back (usually Autoglym Super Resin polish) followed by the Ultra Deep Shine for the wax phase if I remember rightly.

http://www.best-auto-detailing-tips.com ... alant.html

I use this mopped on after the compound (also G products) http://www.farecla.com/automotive/1-2-g ... s-enhancer then this as a base wax https://www.amazon.co.uk/Simoniz-SIM001 ... B003SEXTYY also mopped on followed by this to finish http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/megui ... od_97.html

I use the cheep spray "detailer" to help polish off the powder and smooth the mop action when buffing the final finish.

I do understand... I'm going to wash the Activa soon as it's looking very dusty and neglected now... I must do something as it had a card stuck under the wiper yesterday from a scrap dealer offering seriously good money for old cars!!!

I had a white Xantia estate in Polar White and that was as flat as a witch's whatsit too... Must be the colour!

I'll get hold of some paint tomorrow Alasdair...

I must say I'm getting really excited about getting my new little car :D Can't wait to bring her to her new home!

After your hard work on her Alasdair I'm going to have to carefully look after her now :) I will ;)

I'm delighted she has a Somerset registration too :)
