Re: Whatsthisthen?..The Red One!
Yes, you have it. To be pedantic my photo is of a Latser TX3 which was the 'sports' version. The NZ plate dates it to 1984. NZ/Aus/Japan never got the European FWD Escorts, so got these cut-n-shut Mazdas instead.
Similarly we got the Telstar instead of the Sierra (but as Mazda had no tooling for an estate version of the 626, we did get Sierra estates).

Re: Whatsthisthen?..The Red One!
Enjoyed that one Thanks for posting it up.
That Hatch Heaven site is interesting.
I've pre-loaded with a "Citroen" search term.....nothing too surprising but interesting non the less as you page down, then up pops the
"Oltcit Club"

Never heard of it before. there has to be a misprint in the blurb got to be 149.6 kph (91mph) surely or its one of the hottest hatches ever made

Regards NeilThe Oltcit Club was produced from 1981 to 1995. It was produced via a joint venture with Citroën. It had front wheel drive, and was promoted as having a self-supporting body made of steel sheet processed by electropriming to resist corrosion. [is this BS?]Its air cooled four cylinder engine had an output of 41 hp and claimed to reach a maximum speed of 146.9 MPH with 5 people in it.[/is this BS?] The front suspension was independent, with torsion bars and transverse flexion blades and telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers. It had front and rear disk brakes. Re: Whatsthisthen?..The Red One!
You only had to search this site to find an Oltcit! https://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/ ... hp?t=37813
I suspect the top speed should be kph.

Re: Whatsthisthen?..entries invited
I will let you stew a while on this one, I have obscured the text a little to make it slightly challenging.

Re: Whatsthisthen?..entries invited
Stewing nicely, and slighlty challenging may be a slight understatement
Nothing even close, vertical grills, 1920's car emblems and badges, 1930's car emblems and badges zilch! Very few cars have the "badge" clagged onto the bars of the grill, Wolseley/Bugatti maybe but nowhere near in shape.
Possible C in the shape no help at all as far as manufacturers/models beginning with C are concerned.
So, looking for a bit of assistance would 20's/30's be the right decade?

Re: Whatsthisthen?..the impossible emblem!
I was thinking after I posted it that this one might be too tough, as it is a very rare car, but I am sure that you can get a lot closer to the truth.
This shot contains at least one distinctive clue.

None of my browsers will currently open that site due to a security error, but you are correct. Which was the visual clue that got you to wikipedia?
To prove that it is not unique here are a couple more shots I took on their day out:

I wondered about Aussie Fords but couldn't think of anything other than the big stuff and the Ford/\Mazda/Kia small cars Festiva/121/Pride. )and a load of other different names around the world)

Re: Whatsthisthen?..the impossible emblem!
I would have been struggling for a while on that one.
Well done Richard W! I would no doubt have scoured my usual sites to no avail.
Classiccarcatalogue.com has around 750 ish different manufacturers covering the years 1930 to 1979 and de la Chapelle is not featured at all.
The impossible emblem is solved .....new title now!
Regards Neil
