Stickies little Daffodil

Unread post by Stickyfinger »

Let me introduce Daffodil. Some will already know her, others maybe not......but here she is. A little AX poverty spec 1ltr petrol.

I picked Daffodil locally, not from a hedgerow but from a local estate row of garages where she had sat untouched for 2 1/2 years., she cost £103 (£105 as I had no change with me)

I spent a week polishing and servicing her (oower) giving Oil/Filters and belts a work over. She had not been MoT'd for 2 years or run......she passed with a rear brake adjustment !
She spent the summer with a "hippy chick" who passed her back to me last week as she returned to Australia.

Today I started to address the few odd blemishes that exists ....and this car is 25 years old !

Daffodil is amazing for her age !....I removed her proboscis as a start

Bilt&Hamber protection waxes and products arrive tomorrow, I will clean the few rust marks and treat with hydrate 80, zinc prime, paint and then cover with dynax-s50 before top coating with dynax-UC on all areas that are visible as it is a clear wax. I will use dynax-UB (brown wax) on all areas not seen from above.

It was good of you to give the seller the extra 2 quid! Looks about the same condition as my lil pug when she got her bumper and lights removed a few weeks ago to do a similar rust abatement exercise.

She's a real little beaut Alasdair :) Amazed at how good she is under the bumper and grille...

Now it's exposed, check that resistor is good - it is what controls cooling fan speed - as they have a habit of going open-circuit due to corrosion...

Check the cooling fan works as expected.... If it is open then the fan will only operate at high speed...

Well Daffodil received a full underbody waxing with Dynax s50 from Bilt&Hamber today......DISGUSTING job but hey it is now done. All arches, box sections etc done. I still need to drill the sills in 3 places and do them.

Tomorrow she will have a top up of flexible under-seal (again B&H) over the wax as recommended, she is then ready for a winter and lots of shopping trips !
