On the way home last night we saw three Tesla's.... is there some convention going on that I don't know about ??! :)

A white Model X going in the same direction as us, about 2 minutes later a red Model S coming towards us and about another 2 minutes later a dark blue Model S coming towards us... 8-)

Seen today in the commuter traffic at Sindlesham Mill bridges near Winnersh, Berks, a metallic red Nissan Leaf. Noticeably better lights at the back than other vehicles in what was pretty awful visibility due to heavy rain.

On the way into the city this morning I spotted a BMW i3 (I see those reasonably regularly) and for the first time a BMW i8 - the only one I've ever seen before was at the Evolution motor show in Edinburgh a few months ago.

My boss has an i8, it's phenomenal. In my opinion a far better made and designed vehicle than the Tesla S I looked around. It's 1.5 turbo sounds way better than my 3.0 V6 as well somehow. Not sure I could drive a car that looked like that though, whilst I like it it's a bit conspicuous for me.

The i8 does looks very impressive but as you say is very conspicuous and I would have difficulty driving one for the same reason let alone owning it.

It's almost like a concept car that ended up getting sold to the public as a road car...

BMW could be one to watch in the transition to EV's - although they've only released two EV's so far with the i3 in 2013 in both BEV and Range extender versions, and the i8 Hybrid, I get the impression they are taking it seriously and will be one of the entrenched marquees best able to transition to EV's, compete head on with Tesla and try to beat them at their own game...

Certainly when compared to some manufacturers that have yet to release or announce a single model of BEV! (Mazda, Toyota etc)

I have to admit I like the look of the i8 :) It's different and that's good.

I like it too.
It's the way everyone looks at you as you go down the street I don't like.
I prefer to blend in rather than stand out.
