The C5 shall return

Unread post by elma »

Yesterday at the Frankfurt motor show Citroen announced that the C5 will return in 2020.

No such joy for lovers of the Xantia but still a step in the right direction.

So they will use a number 5......lets see if they maintain the "big Citroen" concept (which they have never sold many of)

Well, one thing's for sure... I won't be buying one of the C5 Aircross's pictured in that article. The only thing I like about it are the doorhandles, and that's not quite enough to tempt me :-D

They say they are.

"Jackson said spinning off the DS subbrand in 2014 created gaps in the Citroen lineup, which were now being filled as the brand adopts all eight of the body variations defined by parent PSA Group in its passenger car and light commercial vehicle range."

Weather we can believe them is another question.

Looks like a Swatch watch gone wrong to me.

You don't happen to know the Xantias one as well do you? I've never come across the chassis codes, it's quite Interesting.

Basically we'll be getting the cheap as chips Chinese version of the C5 that's already on sale there (why reinvent the reinvented wheel?) As long as we get the hydraulic cushions and none of the tat from Opel, it might be enough to peak my interest....

I'm also guessing that when it does get reincarnated over here, we'll end up with the energiser bunny version - crammed with Duracell batteries and a non-negotiable Stop-Start system on the way to full electric... Oh, the joy, I can't wait

All the Hydropneumatic dies hards amongst us may well have to jump ship to the Landcruiser that has nicked Citroen's suspension it would seem....

Has anyone test drove a cactus with the new suspension? I'd like to but never have the time.

Thanks harlequin, I did try asking Google but I didn't find the answer. I did find some interesting reading though, particularly an old thread on piston heads.
