C4GP lights fault

C4GP I've bought is throwing up a couple of faults. First the particle filter additive level too low sign on the dash obviously pointed me towards the eolys tank needing feeding. On speaking to the garage that performed the last service back in May he said they had filled the tank but not being a Citroen place they hadn't had a Lexia on it. Lexia definitely says the tank is full and the pump is working but the sign on the dash insists on displaying on start up.


Just the normal glitch in the Citroen system?

Second problem is more of a worry. The nearside headlight is dead; no sidelight, dipped beam, main beam, indicator or even fog light. The sidelight does not work on the offside neither. This is a 2009 car so pre LED stuff. From reading around it seems a likelihood that the problem originates in the engine bay fuse box. The fuses for the dipped and main beam are okay and the area is dry.


Anyone any experience of this who could point me in the right direction?

Ok, I've had a look at the circuit diagrams for the lights. The common factor with the lights you mentioned is the earth point (MC10). I'm going to email; you the diagram and the location of the earths, so you can check these out as the easiest and simplest things to do first., Then I would check the wiring plugs have been connected up properly to the Headlamp units. The headlamp units show a 10 Pin Black connector plug on each Headlamp.

The headlamp unit fuses seem to be in the Engine Fuse Box (PSF1) and will be either F15, F16, F17 or F18 (I can't tell without looking at the customer manual).

2615 : right-hand headlamp
2610 : left-hand headlamp
2701 : Left-hand dipped headlight command
2702: Right-hand dipped headlight command
262 : right-hand sidelamp supply
261 : left-hand sidelamp supply
ME10E : electronic earth
ME10F : electronic earth
MC20B : earth mc20

The fogs are on a separate diagram but share the same Earths too (MC10 and MC20).

The PDFs are saved as vector images, so will maintain resolution if zoomed up.
Look at the 'Principle' diagram first, and then the 'Location' for the earth physical locations.

The position of MC10 fits the problem I have. The fact that the nsf fog light shares it speaks volumes! I wonder if I have disturbed it, or its wiring, when I had the bumper and headlights off?

All the fuses are good and the connector fits securely.

It would seem a good place to start - seeing as the whole lot are not working - very unlikely to be a fuse blown, but I suspect either the connector plug to the headlamp is loose or not clicked into place or the earth is not making contact.

Doesn't explain why the offside sidelight isn't working though - and it's not the bulb. Slowly, slowly, catchy monkey eh?!

For the additive level you have to go in via the particle filter additive ECU, and select repair, and then refilled the fluid or similar, this will then tell both the engine and DPF ecu that the bag is full. Looks like someone might have bodged yours, as the amount says 17 litres, whereas the bag is only about 1.7l....!

The problem with the lights was the engine bay fuse box. Installed a brand new one and lights sorted and working. But it's thrown up another problem, the front wipers don't work Lexia says that the BSI has recognised the new fuse box but when I go into the wipers section it tries to connect and then throws up No dialogue with ECU during initialisation and won't allow me to go any farther. In BSI Configuration the Windscreen wiper ecu is showing as present.

In BSI Faults it throws up two faults: Unexpected reinitialisation of the Built-in systems interface - Not Characterised (fault code F5FF) and No communication with the Windscren wiper ECU - Not characterised (fault code F02F).

In the BSM Identification it says the Additional Number is the new box and the ECU is not recognised but in BSI Identification it says it's the old box and recognises it.

The fuse box is a plug and play with no coding needed but obviously the wipers don't see it that way. Everything else works on the car to the point whereby it's ready for a test. There are no fault codes on the dash.

I get the feeling I can't see the woods for the trees and need a fresh pair of eyes to point out the bleeding obvious - whatever it is.

Have you fitted the right fuse board? There is more than on type, and early cars have a much more expensive one - it's possible they are not compatible. I didn't have to do anything to ours (an early one) when I fitted the new board - although one I tried that was not the correct one made the wipers non-operational...

Back to your additive issue, 91g weight in the filter should be about 77k miles. and that is generally the threshold for when the DPF warning appears. Reset the diesel additive ECU counter to zero - if you can find the location in Lexia!

Richard - it was found that the fuse box was faulty. The supplier replaced the box and all is well now.

Marc - I've replaced the dpf with a spare clean one and cleaned out the egr. What a pain that is to remove, even with the plastic scuttle off. Not as stupid as putting the air filter box where it is - whoever designed that deserves a size 10 steely in his wedding tackle - mine!

Ready for the test this week and then it's got to go as swmbo has decided she is keeping the one she has.
