...I think it would probably have provoked a bit of camera getting out without my little taskette, looks superb.

I love the Gordon Keeble Neil :) Just as I do the Gilburn Invader. You'll find a picture of one in my Haynes album ;)

Spotted a black A35, and a green A30 or A35 (couldn't see the rear window or front grille), and an Aston DB MkIIIB saloon in the space of 1 minute going through town this afternoon. The black A35 is a fairly regular runabout around here - not mint, but nicely used :)
Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(

I was at B&Q in Reading today, and saw these two little beauties (with permission from the driver of the blue car to take photographs on my smartphone);

I was just taking a picture of this tidy 104 and the proud owner came along and told me that he rescued it from a scrap yard.

This Renault 6 and Rover 114 sit outside a car sales, so I guess they might be for sale.

Auto Trader Vehicle Check (the free one) usually comes up with a bit more model info than the on-line DVLA enquiry so this gives the Ford Classic 1962 info, and a Standard 8 1955 for the black one.

The Caranza site gives on one page bits of other free info, including dates of registered owner changes, and changes of registration plate, together with the MOT history information. That Ford Classic was first registered 23 July 1962 and was formerly 9618LJ (changed to UYJ106 in May 1993). The original plate is a Bournemouth reg the changed plate was originally a Dundee issued number.

Here's some links to the "tools" useful to the classic car spotter...get the reg no and the rest is easy!
Autotrader Vehicle Check
Cazana
DVLA Vehicle Check
DVLA MOT history

and if you want to decode old UK Numberplates this from oldclassiccar is a useful resource

Never before has the word beauty been used in connection with a Standard 8 (the last British car to only have a single brake light?).

Looked at that "Pre 1973 UK Number Plates" link, just seemed to be a list of 1 & 2 letter identifiers &, as such, of no real help/use - or was I missing something.

Actually, the relevant page from an old AA book is as good as anything - for anything up to the current issue plates.

You have to click on the 2-letter issuing office code and you get another page which records the dates when that issuing office moved on to the next sequential letter code (A to Z).

No earth shattering purpose, just a curiosity where you can date a vehicle from the registration plate even without a specific year letter suffix.

Does the French number plate tell us anything now? The former style French plates with Departement numbers in the main body of the plate told you the Departement it was from. The newer plates do have this as part of the blue bits at each side, but that vehicle is on classic plates which don't have the blue bits on.

Haven't discovered any free "vehicle check" info where you can just plug in a French plate and get some basic information.

Are Tractors OK in this thread?

These two lovely old Fergy TE20s were spotted outside the Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum :)

Not sure what they have to do with bikes but they certainly were a welcome sight!

Some nice old vintage trials bikes in the shot too ;)
