Re: The Pickled Egg-Track of the Day
Have you just come back from Athens Steve, and been at the Ouzo and Retsina?
Like those drinks bit of an acquired taste I think

Never been to Greece but love Eleftheria Arvanitaki and Georgia Dagaki.
Never sampled Retsina nor Ouzo but did have a nice Greek white wine from Lidl a couple of weeks ago.

Re: The Pickled Egg-Track of the Day
It's a familiar track to the PE, but its today's track of the day again...on this random link, and simply because it's a tremendous version of the track, well qualifying for the Sax special section on the PE jukebox. Chris White's bits at the beginning and end are superb.
The link from POTD....
Well the Vuelta started of from Nimes in France this weekend.....and the Arena de Nimes is one of the two live venues for Dire Straits live album "On the Night". Not sure if this was Nimes or Rotterdam, but a great version of a great song...
Regards Neil

Re: The Pickled Egg-Track of the Day
Mike Rutherford of Genesis is doing his "Tracks of my Years" selections on Ken Bruce's show on Radio 2.
He chose a selection from one of "my" bands the Doobie Brothers "Long Train Runnin"
...but I'll dig up a less often heard old Genesis track "Squonk" from the "Trick of the Tail" album for todays offering.
Regards Neil

The Pickled Egg-10 Blues Classics
Blues classic chosen by Richard Hawley on Radio 2 tonight.
Track lists both Big Walter and Little Walter on Harmonica but I think its "Big" who takes the lead.
Little Walter is no slouch himself
Regards Neil

Re: The Pickled Egg-10 Blues Classics
Van Morrison creeping into the Pickled Egg-10 Blues Classics? Does he have the necessary credentials? or should we just go for JLH on his own with a guitar?

I picked that at random (I actually have both here) and didn't realise it was the one with VM in it until it was well on the way.

Re: The Pickled Egg-10 Blues Classics
That's more like it Steve!!
My brother got "Wheels of Fire" by Cream which filled up one of the sides with "Crossroads" and a long version of "Spoonful" both in the category of blues classics, but rather than those "modern" interpretations to make the PE 10 blues classics, you have got to go back to as near the originals as possible in my view
Regards Neil

Re: The Pickled Egg-10 Blues Classics
I have Samantha Fish to thank for the introduction to RL Burnside.
She does it rather differently though.
First thing I saw by her and an instant fan, return to this almost daily, shame it isn't on any of her albums.
