SAT Nav Offset
Greetings,
I have been a fan of this site for a long time and never had reason to post...until now...but I'm confident someone will have the answer....
1. The sat nav on my 2011 C5 VTR+Nav (My way system) appears to be about 20-30mtrs out...it will place me on the roads I am on, so laterally it is fine, but upon coming on a junction it appears to be delayed, so in effect I get to the junction before the sat nav does! I have checked the system time etc and that is all in order, anyone come across this before?
Any help is very much appreciated,
Kind regards, Kevin.

Re: SAT Nav Offset
What versions of firmware are you running on your MyWay and what is the current mapping version you are using?
Also, how many satellites are showing as visible - it will need a minimum of 4 to work properly. You can find this out by starting the car, wait for the system to start up, then hold the SETUP button in until the menu appears. Scroll thtough the options until it shows you the number of visible satellites.
If there are a low number, then I would be suspicious of the GPS aerial. Water ingress through the aerial base can cause issues.

Hi,

Hopefully that will help as its actually quite distracting
Thanks, Kev.

Re: SAT Nav Offset
Kev, hold the SETUP button in until the menu appears. Scroll through the options until SYSTEM appears. Select this and then there should be options that show you the software versions. You may well receive the firmware update along with the map update via the official sources. I would say however that there is a new map version due out between now and year end for 2017 - some systems have these available now and the others are on version 2016-2. But the map data itself on the 2016-2 edition was collected at fourth quarter 2015! So might be worth hanging on a little bit. I called them yesterday in fact (HERE maps) to find out what the delay was, but they have no info on when the newer revisions will be available presently - but did indicate that it should be this year.

Re: SAT Nav Offset
No problems - I've been caught before, and now I keep an eye on the releases which are generally once a year - but they don't release the new versions all at the same time for every system! There's nothing worse than buying a set and then finding the later version comes out a month later.
Because the actual map data is always older than the package release date, for me it's also doubly important to get the latest one - I've already made some update requests for missing roundabouts and new roads where I am 2 years ago - and I have the latest version that still has not included the changes. I'll be wanting to know why not if they are not in the 2017-1 release too - otherwise what is the point of inviting customers to advise them of updates using their map update system? Not really good enough if customers take the trouble to do their work for them

Re: SAT Nav Offset
Hi,
to update....new maps arrived and installed. Initially it wouldn't accept the card until I done a system reboot, done this through the "Hidden Menu 1+2+3", have all the missing roads now etc, but the car still arrives at a junction about 10mtrs before the Sat Nav does.....is there any point doing the Factory Re-set that's listed in the settings menu? I'm going to check the Lat Long later with a hand held device I use for flying.
Best regards, Kev.

Re: SAT Nav Offset
Kev, before doing that - can you provide your firmware version as mentioned in the 5th post above. This will determine the system software you have.

Re: SAT Nav Offset
Hi,
so new maps and firmware installed successfully (Thank you so much Marc) however the off set is still evident, it's kind of like the system is 5-10mtrs behind the car and never quite catches up, not as if I'm driving at Mach 1!! Satellite coverage is between 8-10 and localisation is "Good". I'll get around this weekend to seeing what the Lat/Long is in comparison to the Garmin which I know is exact within 2mtrs.
Kind regards, Kev.

Re: SAT Nav Offset
Hi Kev, glad the upgrade went well.
A couple of things you can try. Sometimes it is beneficial to perform a BSI reset after an upgrade, which will also power off the MyWay Head Unit and clear any memory resident settings. Then, when you have completed the procedure, start the car and leave it running for about 10-15 minutes so it can lock onto the satellites and recalibrate itself.
Essential that you do not open any doors or press any buttons / use the radio when following this, or it will wake up the car's network and the ECUs, negating the procedure.
Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure
Good luck.

Thanks Marc....I'll do that tonight or tomorrow and revert. I don't have any codes for the radio etc, or is that needed after a power out?
Much appreciated, Kev.
