Apparently it's a Healey Westland B, and the number relates to the 1948 Mile Miglia:

That article does show the three cars Richard, but the green one is known as a Healey Elliot. Down the page under th pick of Green 76 is this bit of blurb
What’s clear is that the Elliott is not at all like the Tickford, apart from an overall swoopy roundedness and the radiator grille which, greatly stretched laterally, helped form the face of the Austin-Healey 100. The Tickford’s windscreen has angles in its corners and the headlights are mounted in the front wings, whereas the smaller Elliott has a narrower, more rounded and almost panoramic windscreen and its headlights neatly flank the front grille.

Abbott, Tickford, Elliott, Westland… it’s an eclectic mix of two coachbuilders, a furnituremaker and an aircraft manufacturer. There was a logic to this, but it’s not what you might expect. Common to all, though, are a Riley engine and an unusual form of double-trailing-link front suspension. And a pace considered remarkable at the time."

I rather like the horrible green thing, it just needs a respray.
Those over exaggerated curves definitely do it for me.

Well its been a while, but I did come across this which I didn't instantly know what it was, while perusing the North-East Film Archive.

It could be a bit biased in favour of Steve (Myglaren) as it is right from his backyard.

The film lasts 2 minutes 40 seconds, but the source of it is the awfully laid out website of the Newcastle Evening Chronicle. So when it retrieves what looks like a blank page, scroll down a bit and you get the article and the film.

The car in question is not the Nissan Bluebird, but the sporty looking job. (1.03-1.10)

Short production run from 1971 to 1974 but well enough known.

Is anyone going to be bothered to have a go :?:

ps just to make it easier here is a still from the film

Lots of familiar scenes there Neil.
That blue car ^ which I took as being a Fiat X1/9, is filmed half a mile from my home.
The Echo printing works aren't in Washington though - Pennywell in Sunderland.
Neither are (were) the Corning glassworks, they were in Millfield, Sunderland.
My next door neighbour at the time worked there, then moved to the Vaux brewery - his name was Beer! :)
Most of the things long gone now and as they say - most of that was fields when I moved here (1978)
My second daughter was married in the Washington Old Hall (with the Griffin outside.
Surprised there was no footage of the airport (now the Nissan factory) and the attendant air museum (still there, complete with a Vulcan).

Makes I feel old :(

It isn't an X1/9 Steve. A team of ex-Lotus engineers, designed a car and set up a factory in Washington. The film shows a production line churning them out a total of 315 were produced.

It was available as a kit or a fully assembled unit, and its engine and running gear came from Scotland....

All right you lot, this will probably take you about ten seconds given your reputation...but this beast of a thing caused a fantastic moment of "...?" from me as it burbled into place just across from where I was parked up today. Definitely not one I'd ever even heard of before, never mind seen one...which given that this is my speciality time period wise surprised me.

I had to wander over and consult the badges before I could even figure out which country it was from much less what it was...however I've removed those now so you can't do that!

Just seen it this second.....and instant thought without any research was "Australian" as per demag!

Its going to run into hours before I give it a go, but I presume I could deduct the time sleeping from the challenge!
