I couldn't spot a Tintin book, but I did spot the Heinlien book.

I like Billy Joel a lot... I must think about that one Neil... I'll get my CDs out later...

I'm kicking myself now  I missed a great photo opportunity today as I had no camera with me; I shall rectify that soon and it'll make a perfect POTD picture ;)

I must always carry a camera from now on...

Yes James, I'm not surprised, I'm afraid my recollection of the title was somewhat clouded. The actual title isn't in the song, but it is just about there!

Stranger in a Strange Land! for his 1961 section.

Another Car company apart from Studebaker (1950) gets a mention. In his 1959 section the lyric "Edsel is a no go" refers to the end of the marque after only 3 years production.

Ever wonder where Georg Simon Ohm (of Ohm's Law fame) 16 March 1789 – 6 July 1854 came from?

Erlangen near Nuremburg is the answer.

..and what is Erlangen's other claim to fame/notoriety in FCF POTD circles.....

It is the location of this....

At first sight that almost looks like a folly but I see it's far from that...

Missed this Geograph Picture of the day from yesterday from my old stomping ground Consett County Durham.

In years gone by this section of the C2C cycle route would have gone straight through the Steelworks! or "The Company" as the Consett Iron Company was known as round these parts. Nature has taken over and you wouldn't realise the works were ever there.

Not a trace of the old Red Dust settling on the sculpture, although for old times sake you can get a pint of "Red Dust" at the Grey Horse Consett Ale Works Brewery.

Now Consett, despite appearances is a very good stop off point on the C2C cycle path because that particular sculpture is a mere 200 yards or so from Morrisons, or for the less discerning McD etc, and a short half mile detour to one of the best farmshops/cafes at Knitsley Farm right next to the cyclepath on the Lanchester Branch line.

Accidentally got myself into McD's car park when looking for Tesco, must have a look at that next time I am up there.

Yes I'm hoping some of the stuff posted upon on here seeps into the subconscious and creates the conditions for "frequency illusion" and inflicts FCF members with a subversive and illogical tendency to see "red clocks" whereever they go :!: :-D .

So the next time you set foot in Erlangen, instead of behaving like a rational human being, you become consumed with the desire to seek out and photograph the "Red Clock" :!:

I have driven through Trollhättan many times and only discovered that there are waterfalls recently.

I've got a mate who lives on the outskirts of Erlangen. As far as I was concerned, Erlangen consisted of Siemens, beer, and food.... and that was it. It's amazing what you learn on FCF

Now if you start to get really good at photography, and carry with you a few examples of the infliction highlighted above, you could end up with a nice set of holiday photos like this....I'll highlight the first one but if you flick through the second link, definitely many other gems captured there....and yes should I ever set foot in Montreal I will seek them out!!

A lovely clock and a ghost sign...2-for-1! The "patina" of Hotel Nelson is superb!

..and the rest if that one hits the spot

I particularly like the New York Life building clock on Place d’Armes, and Henry Birks and Sons on rue Sainte Catherine both beautifully photographed.

C2C is something I really, badly want to do... It'll be well worth it just to see that sculpture - it is wonderful :)

I do like sculpture...

The cafe sounds like a good reason to do the C2C too ;)

That original apple logo explains a lot. I always wondered why apple was chosen as the name but didn't look it up.
