That's one thing I like about my 207. It is pleasingly small and nimble but lacks a bit of power unless you rev the balls off it; luckily the TU engine is quite amenable to this...

I find the 207 perfect for running around Milton Keynes but no good for longer journeys...

I also find it easier and less demanding to drive when I'm not on good form.

I've never driven a little auto. An auto should only be fitted behind a big engine... Such as 3.0 V6 as in the Xantia

Agreed, even my 2.2vtec lacked the torque to get the best from an auto. Ive tried the ones in the smart car and the vw up when in london and they were both dire. Neither would pull away as expected, both made a terrible racket and were horribly clunky. Something like a mini cooper may suit auto but I'd want manual.

I'm also leaving. I need my yard back, and it's not getting used and I need to get m Cortina mk5 running right again before it rots again. Now I have a buyer, it's given me a reality check that my old bus is going!
I think I'll be back in the future, all of a sudden I'm having dirty thought about getting a V6 or something! Or maybe a turbo next time.

Sadly I agree, post Xm and Xantia citroen is just another ford or vauxhall to me.

The C1 is a wonderful *little* car. If a small car was what I needed, it's definitely what I'd buy.

I want/need a big estate car, that I can fill with 5 people and luggage in comfort (including a mobility scooter) and drive hundreds of miles across Europe economically and relatively quickly.

So far the only thing that's close to fulfilling a requirements is a BMW 5-series Tourer, and I'd kick myself if I didn't buy the 272bhp M-Sport diesel version...

As someone has already said an auto box in an S80 suits it so much better. You can still use it in manual mode, I like big cars and fancied an auto and the D5 seems to be a great engine with a great sound.

If we make it to any meets at all, you should have a spin in Black, it's hardly a ball of fire but I think the auto suits it pretty well all told it actually makes Black & White feel like completely different cars even though they're basically the same gearbox & turbo aside... Makes one appreciate how good the little 1.4HDi is in the 206 as well, if feels like a tuned GTi in comparison!
