Re: The Pickled Egg-Jukebox-July 4th tenuous links!

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Can't cross anyone off the list for Jimmy I dont think Steve!

9 left now
27. John Morton
33. Caesar Rodney 37. William Paca 39. Charles Carroll of Carrollton
40. George Wythe 47. William Hooper 48. Joseph Hewes 49. John Penn
50. Edward Rutledge 53. Arthur Middleton
Gwinett and Clymer fall 10 left nine after I introduce Black Bottom Stomp...its a foxtrot apparently so tables will have to be moved in the PE to give the necessary room for the dancers.

yes for a coincidental post I'm going to have to rule the foxtrot out of the list. Tables back where they were! :-D

No !! - there's always room for a foxtrot. John (Cooper Clarke) Morton has now mysteriously become John (Cooper Clarke) Penn :-D

A bit of advance warning - if we can't come up with a suitable choice for No.53 Arthur Middleton, then I'm going to have to post Arthur Mullard and Hylda Baker doing 'You're The One That I want'........ and nobody wants that to happen ! [-X

another recap

33. Caesar Rodney 39. Charles Carroll of Carrollton
40. George Wythe 47. William Hooper 48. Joseph Hewes

Foxtrot is back in with "Jelly Roll" Morton, and Cooper Clarke goes to 49 and John Penn falls.

Autoplaying on now with "Jelly Roll"....some good stuff there, and fantastic that such recordings from the 20's are there for us to find and enjoy again!

When you mentioned Ruffin I thought of Jimmy, didn't know where that came from - but you did say tenuous

Speaking of which, will a picture of Kate do?

Can you set her to music Steve? I mean if there is a decent video of Mrs Wales when she was Ms Middleton with a musical accompanyment that could work. She is marginally more attractive than the pair Bobins has in reserve!

This is the sort of thing I was thinking off but probably too much silence at the start, but plenty of choral accompaniment as the Aisle is walked!

Hah! Never watched any of that and never thought of looking on YT for it :(

Sideslip:

Not sure why but this popped into my head. I mentioned earlier about Carolyn Hester's Summertime" and this is similar.
1966 this came out and I thought it was the best thing ever.

What I wasn't aware of was that Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce were in there!
Tried for years to buy it and when I eventually did found it a bit disappointing.

Joe does it better.

Catherine Middleton walking down the aisle even with the silence at the start takes care of "Aurthur Middleton" without the need for Mullard and Baker!

So lets wrap this up

33. Caesar Rodney 39. Charles Carroll of Carrollton
40. George Wythe 47. William Hooper 48. Joseph Hewes
50. Edward Rutledge 53. Arthur Middleton
33. (Little) Caesar Rodney

39. Charles Carroll of Carrollton

Touch of Reggae

40. George Wythe

Former Lead Guitarist of Imogen Heap Leo Abrahams. The only track in the world with Wythe in the title and a new genre for the Pickled Egg.

47. William Hooper

Yes Burt Reynolds was Hooper and the movie did have a theme tune. Fairly second division but not unpleasant.

48. Joseph Hewes

Nothing for Hewes at all so next best, there is a band called Joseph

I know the PE jukebox is currently concerned with the 'mercan declaration of independence, and I know this is a French car forum.... but I bring you - in 47th place, William (Blake) Hooper and his catchy ditty set to music :-D

Fabulous!

Used to hate being made to sing (mime - never sung a word yet!) that in school but always find it one of the highlights of LNATP.

I am quite happy to move my Burt Reynolds Hooper aside for that Bobins....it was a pretty weak selection from me.

We are left with 50. Edward Rutledge of South Carolina, Charleston to be precise

Image
Edward Rutledge [Public domain], by National Park Service, from Wikimedia Commons

Mr Rutledge has the honour of being the final selection of the list.

I haven't got anything in mind to select as yet, so fire away with suggestions. Bit of a hard ask not many Rutledges in the world of music I fear.

Maybe the Powerful/uncomfortable song performed by the character playing Rutledge in 1776
"Molasses to Rum" should be an appropriate close to the list.

Molasses to Rum from 1776, at Plays-in-the-Park, Edison, New Jersey. June-July 2010. Director: Gary Cohen, Coreographer: Michelle Massa, Musical Director: Warren Helms.
Rutledge played by Todd Fenstermaker
