Re: Classic car Spring/Summer Collection-2017
Spotted this MG on my bike ride in Stewkley this afternoon. I guess it's pre-war...
Looks pretty in red

Thats a nice in the wild spot their Jim, saw large numbers of classic cars on holiday, this one was very much in captivity, but don't worry £16,200 plus buyers premium saw it released. Very unlikely to be actually used as intended for family outings to the beach with the dogs in the back, more likely to be making its way to a further spell in captivity waiting for the price to rise before emerging once again.

On a private plate so can't be sure of exact age, but saw a very early red Volvo 340 yesterday. Early enough it still had the single-row tail lights and the tailpipe sticking out miles from the bumper at an angle that made it look like something bodged on by someone at home.
Immaculate though and positively gleaming, and driven by an older gent who you have to wonder if is still the original owner.
Noted that despite 30C heat that he had all the windows closed...was air conditioning an option on them from the start? If so, must have been a pricey one!

Re: Classic car Spring/Summer Collection-2017
Saw a lovely rag-top red E-Type in Oxford yesterday and nearby an unidentified boat-tailed open cockpit vintage thing dating, I'd say from the 20s... Outside a pub...
Sadly I had no opportunity to get a photo of either...
Both spots near where we went for a very lovely meal to celebrate Robyn's Graduation in a posh part of Oxford right by the Thames...
So posh was the gastropub we dined at, and very good it was too, that Gabriel was by far and away the oldest car in the car park

Re: Classic car Spring/Summer Collection-2017
From my bike ride this afternoon...
The remains of Hilary Brock's garage in Olney, the last garage I knew still selling petrol on the pavement... It closed in 20143 I believe but still a bit left of it... The garage was a Ford dealer and well-loved in the area too...
I didn't realise until I processed my pictures that I'd captured an interesting car amongst the moderns in this shot of Olney High street!

Bit of a problem with the old flux capacitor Steve I think it goes a bit odd in the heat....
I was studying Einstein's theory of relativity yesterday on my sick-bed and according to that Hilary Brock's old garage may well exist in 20143!
That's if I understood it properly...

Re: Classic car Spring/Summer Collection-2017
Meant to say earlier... Almost every Saturday morning now in Newport Pagnell I see a Y (1983) plate beige Triumph Acclaim... It looks in very tidy nick and may even be a daily driver...
This afternoon, on my bike ride, I got overtaken by a W (1980) plate Aston Martin Convertible in dark blue with a cream hood and cream leather interior.. It looked absolutely lovely

I vaguely remember that the only bit of the Acclaim that visibly rusted were the black plastic-covered bumpers.
Maybe the only bit that BL-Rover contributed, or perhaps sourced from PSA's spare-wheel carrier factory.

That comment made me howl Chris!
Very likely so The Acclaim was just a re-badged Honda Ballad I believe... Was it shipped in from Japan as a CKD kit do you know?

An estate version of the little yellow one sold for £4,620 inc premium at the appropriately named ACA last Saturday. For those with an eye for accessories nice heated rear window!

Triumph Acclaim...
CKD it was, Jim, with "required local content" for EU/UK production. Obviosly that included BL's contribution of blistering and rusting bumpers.
Full details on 'Triumph Acclaim Wikipeda', a good read.
Ballade and Civic in origins.

Re: Classic car Spring/Summer Collection-2017
Saw something going north bound on the M74 today - I thought it was a Jowett Javelin; but it had covered rear wheel arches, which pictures of a Jowett show it wasn't.... so don't know what it was. Also a couple of moggies near Carlisle.
