Right had turbo replaced today got a phone call saying they had to clean my dpf has it was dirty for £10 extra ( which I agreed to )
I always though my model 110bhp non fap 2004 xsara Picasso meant I had no dpf (non fap)
Is the garage trying to pull a fast one before I pick it up
My model is CH9HYB

Re: Dpf on a non fap picasso
I don't think any of the 8v 110Hdi engines had a FAP/DPF (same thing) fitted, and I presume they'd cost more than a tenner to get cleaned out as you need to remove them to do a proper job.
Ask the garage where the DPF is when you pick it up, and take a pic to show us

FAP and DPF are the same. FAP is French and DPF is English. So if you're sure that it doesn't have one then something's amiss.

It's not the 2.0 it's the 1.6 according to the vehicle information in the LH panel. So maybe it does have a filter?

Too late on the phone I Stated 'I didn't know they was a dpf on my car'
Well anyways got to the garage and they said its free, but noticed they have used a dpf cleaner with silcone aquarium pipe attached to it and he Stated dpf blocked was the reason all my turbo was sooty.
Paid £140 for labour and car is as driving very quietly

Re: Dpf on a non fap picasso
From the Citroen Picasso forum.
CH9HYB ---> 1.6 HDi 110 bhp (no FAP)
CH9HXC ---> 1.6 HDi 92 bhp (no FAP)
CH9HZC ---> 1.6 HDi 100 bhp (FAP)
So, no FAP. They were trying it on.

Paul is right but if you post up or PM your VIN I'll confirm it for you and send you your specs. - my brother in Law has the 1.6 HDi without a DPF.

Re: Dpf on a non fap picasso
If they've opened up the exhaust section and squirted / wasted a can of that stuff in without checking the car, I would be very concerned that they can't determine what is and what isn't fitted. If they were going to clean the EGR out for you, fair enough, but that would probably cost more than a tenner!

Received thanks buddy.
Possibly may of got confused with the egr potentially?
I did see next to my old used oil pipes,strainer,turbo a large can with tubing coming out which look used , yellow and black didn't actually look at the name.
Long tubing (normally egr???)
Pretty certain the car is not as nippy as it was before though,
But is driving fine and no whine so I shouldn't really complain.
I wanted to ask about the egr but didn't want to come across as an arse, now I have the facts I should of stated.
Well at least I didn't pay for it

Re: Dpf on a non fap picasso
Sounds like they used a tin can of spray cleaner and sprayed in the intake while running the engine? You can see youtube presentations on such procedures but they're aimed more at the home diy-er and while they can have an immediate effect, it's nowhere near getting the part off and giving it a damn good soak/scrubbing. Not something I'd expect a professional garage to undertake but what's the harm if free or at cost (£6-15 tin?)

Re: Dpf on a non fap picasso
On a 1.6 HDi the cat and DPF are in the same can on the front of the engine -which needs to be removed to get the turbo out. There's no difference in the can if there is a DPF or not (apart from the sensing pipes and a temperature sensor), so easy for the garage to assume it had one. Squirting the stuff in when it was off would not be difficult - and it almost certainly hasn't done any harm.
