Emission zones and stickers in Europe

Post by Richard_C »

I have just applied for a Crit-Air sticker for France as we may drop in to a city or two later this year. Easy process, don't pay more than E4.70 (delivered) via the official site, there are some sites that "apply for you" and charge more. You just need your V5 handy and a scan to upload.

Anyway, I came across this EU site, sums up all the regulations and sticker requirements in all the EU countries. Might be useful for someone. Pity you can' t get one universally valid EU sticker to rule them all, its all a bit fragmented right now.

https://www.green-zones.eu/en.html

DON'T BUY FROM HERE - SEE BELOW Its just a handy way to see what you might need in different countries.

For clarity, the link in the post above is NOT the official place to buy and it gives costings of:
(google translated):
29,65
Order the French Crit'Air thumbnail for French restricted areas (ZCR). The price of the service, amounting to 29.65 euros, breaks down as follows:
3.24 euros for the control of data concerning the vehicle for the award of a Crit'Air sticker,
0.96 euros For the web server and for the external computer service charges,
1.56 euros for the service of searching for information and writing new content in ten languages,
4.84 euros for general technical costs and administration fees Client, including advertising actions and a profit share,
€ 4.80 of costs related to the French National Printing Office sticker,
€ 5.24 for telephone charges and accessibility to a personal telephone service in several languages,
4 , € 28 for research costs on new environmental zones and for communication costs to local authorities,
€ 4.73 VAT.
The correct link for purchasing is: https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/en/

Yes sorry, posted it as a summary of rules, not as a place to buy.

Thanks for that Richard, 'tis helpful.

My vehicle's reg'd prior to 1997 so is forbidden, but I've found a map on Google images to show limits of the Paris zone. No more pix on the Champs Elysee :?

It appears that the only other location in France affected is Lyon, therefore none of our other stops between Dunkerque & Paris. Is that your understanding?

NB: ignore the 'your apartment' arrow, I guess that relates to whomever created the image (not me).

My understanding of the Paris Regulations was that visitors were excempt. (or am I getting confused with the Rome vehicle excusion zone?).

I have a German geen disc for the Caddy (not seen any red or green ones for years) & keep meaning to apply for one for the C15 - for what has become its annual weekend in Berlin, but they are much cheaper if you pay in cash at a German bank & that takes a little more organisation.

Oh, & there can't be a pan-European one, because everyone has a different take on it.

In France foreign registered cars were exempt until March 1 this year, now they are subject to the same restrictions as local cars.
Note that the restrictions are time dependant and in some cities only apply when atmospheric conditions are bad. There are apps available to give the current status.

Seems like a good reason to avoid France altogether or, at least, keep out of any centres of habitation - it's just too complicated (bit like London bus lanes - Oh, & the October - April parking restrictions in Torbay!)
