I remember those Steve, but not the one I was thinking of.

Found it now, It was this one, another from Anna-Maria Hefele with Jan Henning doing the guitar work.

Jan Henning on his own is fairly chilled, and plays his "Baritone Guitar" (never heard of one of those before) in his own style with pleasing resullts.

I think he makes the laid back soundz cut...

Stan's on this one too, according to the blurb...
The story behind this song: Astrud Gilberto was the wife of singing star João Gilberto when she entered a NYC studio in March 1963. João and Jobim were making a record with tenor saxman Stan Getz. The idea of cutting a verse on “Ipanema” in English came up, and Astrud was the only one of the Brazilians who spoke more than phrasebook English. Astrud’s child-like vocal, devoid of vibrato and singerly mannerisms, was the perfect foil for her husband’s soft bumblebee voice. Jobim tinkled piano. Getz blew a creamy smooth tenor. Four minutes of magic went to tape.

Should we risk some Shakatak from the early 1980's :?:

I find this very relaxing. The River Man. Who was he? The Eptome of Nature and Knowledge? Like a kind of Guru that kicked about in a boat? A Wurzel Gummidge or a Stig of the Dump that you visited if you had a problem? It is just such an evocative title and conjures up the needs that we have as Humans.

I have tried and failed to get into Nick Drake - he is a favourite if one of my friend's and I bought some CDs but got nowhere with them.

But in a similar, laid back vein:

From the same (sort of )album.

There were two versions of this album.
My Swedish girlfriend sent me the one with this cover and I sent her the UK version, which I bought as a CD many years later as it had the "Sand & Foam" track on it, also:

A rather fine and relaxing song methinks. Terry Callier - Dancing Girl.

Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(

Robin Trower in a more mellow mood, James Dewar's strong vocals providing an exception to the minimum of words restriction :)

Bunged the selections so far up onto the jukebox, but apologies Steve, only 2 of your Donovan's but that's probably my own personal preference kicking in and as Meatloaf once told us "2 out of 3 ain't bad" :-D . I probably could put up another dozen tracks from Santana but have started looking elsewhere for variety.
