P.O.T.D. Fish special-pause

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

bobins wrote:My brother got a program he wrote on his ZX81 printed in Sinclair User magazine - I think he got £10 for it at the time. IIRC it was called 'Lights Out' :)

Minor pause in POTD: Fish Special....

You may be able to discover the original "Lights Out" in amongst this little lot, looks like virtually every issue available to browse on-line!

Brief conversation with a session musician today, during which "Dumble Amp" and Larry Carlton and Robben Ford got an airing.

So today's POTD from me is this

This is the most interesting thing I have spotted today. It came with the question

"Do you know anything about motor bikes?"

The new owner was trying to fire it up,without success. Now I have acquired quite a bit of useless information so all I could offer from my own personal treasure trove was try a different set of spark plugs.

Then again I was able to provide him with more useful help by putting him in touch with someone who really does know about motor bikes who just lives round the corner.

It's immediately an interesting looking bike, his is 1953 vintage, and an interesting story as told by wiki. Quite a faffy starting procedure.

This is it :!:

I'll be back there at the MK Stadium (home to the MK Dons) tomorrow morning starting and finishing the MK Half Marathon.

At least I hope I'll finish it!

:rofl2:

My daughters made a comment about my legs but be assured they might not look much but they're all muscle and a lot more powerful than they look ;)

My nickname in cycling circles is "Diesel Legs" due to my low cadence high geared pedalling technique - like a diesel engine I have much low-speed torque but not a lot of top end!

I climb hills at good pace in what are seen as ridiculously tall gears...

Time to revive POTD

The picture on this wonderful youtube laid back tune from Carlos Santana featured over at The Pickled Egg-Cool Sound..zzz fest! is from Lake Mono in California. The track is anything but mono! a real treat for a decent audio set up.

Now if you are going to go kayaking on Lake Mono, be sure to take a colourful one. Makes for better pictures against the mineral stacks!

Just regressing slightly, as kids my sister and I used to go to our Nan's in Kinsale just south of Cork on holiday. We were there the same year Sputnik was launched. One evening there was a bit of a stir up the lane as someone heard on the wireless that Sputnik was coming over, non of those new fangled TV percywotsits in those days! We were on the edge of the town so there was no light pollution and the inky black sky was dotted with millions of stars, then suddenly someone pointed to one of the stars moving. I remember the hairs standing up on the back of my neck, and I've remembered it for 60 odd years.
