Catton Hall Classic car show
This is one of the two Citroens in the show over the May weekend. I chatted to the owner who had rebuilt it and get this it's brush painted! Yes he used Tekaloid, remember that? Of course you do, proper coach paint none of this fancy two pack that kills you if you take a wiff! The finish was stunning and unless you stuck your nose next to it you'd have thought it was a quality spray job. It cost £100 to do and it was a credit to him.
More pics to come once I've got them to size, unfortunately not many Cits if that's ok.

I repainted my white GS with Tekaloid - ten coats and it came up rather well if I say so myself.
I think it is still available too.

Re: Catton Hall Classic car show
Just looked up Tekaloid. Comes in aerosols too and loads and loads of colours...including 37 shades of grey with some nice names. My favourites Traffic Grey A, or if you like a darker Traffic Grey try Traffic Grey B

I used it many years ago but struggled to keep a wet edge. I think it's all about getting the viscosity just right.

I used to use Tekaloid regularly when I bought and sold those early F model Vauxhall Victors, It was a Thornley and Knight product back then, even did my vintage Rolls with it in a regal Burgundy colour.
Unlike the other brush paints available at the time (Valspar etc.) it dried hard and could be cut and polished.

I used 'Repaint', which I assume was similar to Tekaloid, to give my very first car - a Mini in Old English White - a freshen-up in 1976.... Worked a treat and looked good...

Re: Catton Hall Classic car show
Here's a few more pics. Quite a lot of "un French" but I thought i would add them purely for the joy of seeing some old original and restored cars. Please delete if inapropriate.
A super little GSA. Unfortunately there was no one near to ask about it. A lovely 2CV in the main parking area, with eyelashes That was it Citroen wise, all three lovely cars though.
Here's some of the rest.
This is a modern version of the big Healey, a nice looking car. They've got their own website. A really nice A40 with Minilites. A50? I'm not sure if this was a Fox or Kitten. Absolute beauty this was. Austin/Morris Van? Very very nice Montego Lagonda There were a few Talbots there I'll post some more later.

Nice Cadillac. Eldorado?
Err, big!

Re: Catton Hall Classic car show
You could have left that second selection out for me Dave... I'm no fan of old Yank Tanks! Horrid old things...
Ever driven one? I have. Even more horrid
I had one for a few weeks as a hire car in Belize back in the 80s... About as dynamic as a wardrobe... A bit like driving an old sofa...

My wardrobe and old sofa demand you retract your insults!CitroJim wrote: About as dynamic as a wardrobe... A bit like driving an old sofa...
I've driven a few - Chevy Nova, Lincoln Town Car, 90s Camaro. All horrid. I wanted a 70s Camaro until I drove one.

I am sure your wardrobe and old sofa buck the general trend and are the exceptions that prove the rules Mike
The only good thing about old Yank Tanks is they tend to have quite tuneful (as in audible rather than performance) V8 engines in them...

Re: Catton Hall Classic car show
Oops forgot about this. I have the attention span of a flea these days.
Here's some more from the show. I spoke to the owner of this Imp. It had stood in a garage for years when he heard about it, having done 15000 miles from new.
He bought it and recomissioned it and has been using it regularly and it has now done 54000 miles. It looked lovely. Nice Mini. The interior was similar to the exterior! Is that a Devon van? It had a rather large V8 in it! Lovely 205 I think that's about it, I hope you enjoyed them. Our next show is a food festival at Weston Park yum yum!
