Tommy Emmanuel has just passed the audition Lexi :-D , Got him to play lady Madonna/Day Tripper and Somewhere over the Rainbow, as well as Purple Haze and he has got through to perform in front of a live audience at the Pickled Egg.

"Emmanuel at the Pickled Egg Snug" should have a wide appeal, and not just for those punters who were teenagers in the 1970's :!: :-D

I had a recommendation from my eldest lad last night - still exploring that but as a result ended up watching St Vincent - have meant to for ages but never got around to it.
Discovered that she worked for her aunt and uncle as a roadie when she was young.
What really surprised me was who they are.
Tuck & Patti!
A long time since I have listened to them - have a CD here somewhere.

Tuck and Patti are rather pleasant and easy on the ears :D

This is nice, especially the last part:

This was one of Richard's recommendations - Anna Calvi.

The first part reminds me of Clapton's "Edge Of Darkness", then it gets really good!
She has the look of Robert Palmer's 'guitarists'.

Not so sure about St Vincent.

A bit avant garde for me.

On the other hand that's pretty much what I thought of Polly Harvey initially.

In celebration of Van Ordinaire's reveal from the "What do you know about Norfolk?" thread. Unless you know different, "Life on Mars" and this song from Chuck Berry are the only ones to feature "Norfolk" in the lyrics.....that's without digging up Folk songs from the 19th Century! Elvis did his own version of the Promised Land too.

As we appear to be having a Bowie fest, how about this;

oops...without tyring too hard I find that the Stranglers as well as Rattus Norvegicus also had an album entitled..

"Norfolk Coast" with the title track being oddly enough "Norfolk Coast" too... It was a return in 2004 after a six year gap since their last album, and though I hadn't heard the track before one good thing, it definitely sounds like the Stranglers!

Totally ludicrous what are the chances of that happening.....read on...

Yesterday, Morrisons picnic from Byker required eating in a more inspiring location than the car park (at Morrisons). No you need to find a more scenic car park.

Best one in Newcastle for those in the know......down by the Cyclehub on the riverside near Ouseburn. Class take away coffee, and great view of the Quayside, the River, the Bridges.

Radio on....and a bunch of apparently likeable eccentrics getting interviewed on local Radio for a gig they were doing at the Wylam Brewery. The Wylam Brewery again for folks in the know is not at Wylam but has relocated to an iconic building at Exhibition park in Newcastle now effectively a large beer hall.

Very nice picture here

http://www.wylambrewery.co.uk/wp-conten ... ry_133.jpg

The band go by the name "Hayseed Dixie", and they do "rock grass" which isn't entirely unpleasant including covers of rock classics , but basically a live band with large personalities who are perfectly suited to a gig at the beer hall and a good time had by all!

Here's one from their repertoire an AC/DC cover in their rockgrass style.

But the point of the coincidence....

Second up on songs containing the word Norfolk from here,

http://www.songlyrics.com/index.php?sec ... mit=Search

Hayseed Dixie! and "Norfolk Girl"

Not one of my favourites but its on you tube for the curious.

Odd that you mention The Cyclehub Neil - my youngest daughter used to work there.
I used to love the Byker Morissons although haven't been there for some years now - I liked all the Chinese kids that got in there.

When you said "Husband & Wife Team" then my first thought was Tedeschi Trucks :)
Wife was fond of JJ Cale but I was never aware he played with his wife.

A long running radio institution has always claimed that "Friday night is music night"....so the Landlord invites you cordially to lob your selections into the mix to entertain and educate the PE punters.....
