Well I hope the Pickled Egg punters who haven't heard this before when it comes on the Juke Box at closing time enjoy this one. That's a Stevie Wonder tune, that Jeff Beck has, as they say in X-Factor parlance, "made his own".

Wonderful :!: :-D

That one has never worked for me, perhaps because I have never liked Stevie Wonder.

This though:

And:

Imo is insane - in the best possible way.

My son lives near Jeff Beck and says that unlike most of the houses there, you can drive right up to the door - no security in evidence and Jeff can often be found buggering around with old cars.
JK is another neighbour - very different story there.

Which kinda leads to this - she can play anything

I saw her at the concert featured from 3' 50" and she was truly impressive. I think I like her on the Hang best though.

She does a lot of film/TV music - she performed this for "The OC"

A very different but excellent version IMO

Is it the tattoos or the voice/music?....just sounds bluesy to me, strong voice and the guy on guitar is pretty good.

One of the comments on her vids certainly rates her
Never thought in my lifetime that I'd ever see another great singer like those from the '60's and even the old school jazz singers. Then along comes Beth Hart. She's in the same league as Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Janis Joplin, Etta James, and so many other greats. She's perfectly paired with another great, Joe Bonamassa. Enjoy every bit of it, because you just don't see this kind of greatness very often. I love every bit of it!
All a matter of personal taste of course :-D

I just can't get away with her Neil, don't know why. No appeal whatsoever.
Same with Halestorm - Lizzie Hale & co.

A quite unique woman with quite a fascinating back-story.
Grand-neice of Cecil Rhodes.
Often accused of being a transsexual, which she deals with with humour and a surprising lack of offence.
Gave rise to her own genre of music - Ecto

Some of my most listened to guitarists.

How about this for an impromptu session round the back garden? One of the greatest is Tommy.

Another genius: They all have in common the fact they are better live than any of their studio recordings.

This was the guy who kicked off so much. White guys became millionaires. He remained penniless. Everyone has copied this style and covered these songs.

I don't think the lyrics in this song would be PC today. Every white blues rock/blues group of 60's and 70's done a version of this at gigs or on record.

It was his picking, slide and damping of strings that gave him that sound.

Remember the Stones on Sticky Fingers covering this one?

She is called Happy Rhodes - she was born Kimberley but always called "Happy" due to her sunny nature - changed her name legally when she was 16.

She has done some very unusual stuff.

Ah - sorry, thought you (as many others do) presumed it was a band called Happy Rhodes :(

Re: Fred McDowell and others - they certainly never received their just rewards. Loads of white musicians basically stole their musical genius and turned it into vast sums of cash.

I recall quite a number of them touring the UK and being very well received in Whitby. My mate met and talked with a lot of them and found them to be very genuine down to earth people.
