Someone mentioned a Vox Continental, which of course brought to mind one of the saved YouTube videos I had of a gent performing a cover of Green Onions on a Continental, which actually sounds pretty darn good - does a good job of demonstrating the difference in tone between a Continental and a Hammond.

Also while I was having a rummage through YouTube the suggested videos pulled out a favourite of mine which I'd actually forgotten about.

There are a lot of bad covers out there (especially on YouTube...), yet occasionally you come across one which is downright epic.

Now the Simon & Garfunkel track Sound of Silence isn't exactly an easy cover as it's got a very unique feel to it (probably why I like it so much).

Randomly stumbling across a cover of it by Disturbed made me raise an eyebrow, as they're very much in the "really heavy metal" category which isn't my thing really...so I really wasn't expecting this...

(Decent speakers of headphones recommended for full effect)

I was rather blown away by that one. Just a crying shame that they haven't done more like that, as there's clearly the potential for one heck of a powerful performance there!

Can't mention Hammond without Stevie W. Simple bass line drives this song.

He was gigging while at school and turned pro as soon as he left, at 16 I think. Here he is in his 60's and still sooooo good.

Gimme Some Lovin' and Green Onions that are high on the list to learn once I get the basics down to play on mine.

Shame I don't know anyone down here who really plays the organ, as I'd love to hear what it can do with someone who knows their stuff at the controls.

I was trying to find a really good version of 'Can't find my way home' to post up last night (just like I was trying to find a good version of Green Onions as well, but they all sounded like they were being played on a Stylophone  ) as it's one of my favourites - used to good effect at the end of the film 'Fandango'. Thank you for Lexi for finding this glorious acoustic version :)

Iron Maiden is a step too far for me... Not a fan of heavy metal like that at all...

To me it sounds like a load of XUDs just starting up on a cold morning...

In fact I'd rather listen to a cold XUD idling to be honest...

Iron Maiden took me back a while. One of my sons was into that and don't think I cared to have it on loud, hour after hour - however we came to an arrangement

Using "Interesting" in its loosest sense, here's an interesting thing I found out about "the Last Unicorn" track by Caravan 1970's prog rock/folk/etherial/psychedelia.....

Obscure as the track is to the majority of the general public, apparently not so to American rappers.

Anyone heard of Apollo Brown and Skyzoo and their track "A Couple Dollars (feat. Joell Ortiz)"

Now I'm not saying is good or anything, but how on earth did one of my favourites make it into the consciousness of of the rapper/hip/hop communiuty!
