All excellent stuff, already the P.E. "Election Selection" has built into literally the finest "election selection" jukebox there is!

In my random wanderings I have also discovered something else new to me, which is just lovely...

Its the soundtrack to "Princess Mononoke" by Joe Hisaishi

Here's a bit

P.E.Jukebox-Election Selection

Interesting little snippet from wiki on Francis Lai....one of his most familiar compositions is this

"Aujourd'hui C'est Toi" instrumental version from the film "Un Homme et Une Femme"

You may have heard it somewhere before

....and the ITV alternative

Interesting take on the "composing" credits. Take time to read comment number 1 from Mick Weaver one of the collaborators who received none of the credit, and wasn't paid for his session!

Won't put an embedded video in as it is rather NSFW but this encapsulates my feelings on the subject.

French too :)

P.E.Jukebox-Election Selection

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Well I thought the Panorama/World in Action themes, and the stories behind them may have provoked a few memories amongst FCF members. They remind me of Monday nights from my youth, and both are top quality themes, well worthy of their places on the PE Election Selection.

More eclectic selections required if only to continue my own musical education. I like to freshen up my own old favourites with new discoveries, so suggest away, and load up the old Wurlitzer.

...and like I said before doesn't even need to be remotely connected with anything to do with the Election....its a musical refuge from the election so no restrictions!

From a similar era as the Panorama and World In Action themes, here's Jimmy Smith giving it a bit of organ...... and duly used as a TV theme..... but which one ?? :) (and no, I don't mean 'The Carpetbaggers')

And for all you Barry Norman fans - of which there must be at least... ooooh!.... tens of you out there :-D , here's a version of the Film xx theme tune.

And if you can be doing something else for the first 1 minute 40 seconds of this one then turn the volume up at 1:41 you should recognise this if you're over 40-odd years old :)

Just been reading the comments section for the World In Action sig tune. This one made me laugh:
"Makes me think of men with beards and donkey jackets standing round a fire on some wasteland."
....they may have a point there

Keep digging them up Bobins, top quality stuff!

and the Nantucket Sleighride at 1.41 ish.....that's the Weekend World theme tune note for note. Peter Jay, or more memorably for me Brian Walden in the chair!

Instantly recognised it but could'nt drag it up from memory and had to look it up. My first thought was its "Man Alive", but no turns out to be the Money Programme.

Good stuff!

I had no idea this thread was even here!.
After Thin Lizzy where best in the world (one of them) GM was superb, I though Phil kicked up a storm on bass guitar.
Staying with the bass and another equally good axe man..........both Celtic Wizards too!

I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed the version of Don't Believe A Word that Neil dug out and posted up - it prompted me to play some of the old Thin Lizzy tracks I've got in my collection :) =D> More please :-D
