Citroen relay

Post by Dribbly »

Hi
I'm pretty desperate for some help regarding my series 3 Relay van which broke down on friday and refuses to start, I have an error code of P0340 which a quick internet search comes up with Camshaft position sensor “A” - circuit malfunction (bank 1) , So would i be correct in thinking the timing chain has stretch or slipped or could it be something else ?

I would suggest it is more likely the sensor itself has failed. More than that I could not say, as I do not have experience of the C15. However, as the EMU needs to know WHERE the crankshaft is in its' cycle to know when to inject fuel if it cannot 'see' the crankshaft it will not be able to trigger the injector system correctly.

Since posting i found the actual error code from the garage which is P0340 Cylinder Referance signal - Permanent - Short circuit to positive - open circuit.
It's just worrying me why it cut out when it was running, Ive had a Saab where the chain had slipped a cogg resulting in the same symptoms and i though this could be the same but a friend as since said if 'Something is Open Circuit' then it's the sensor or a broken wire so I'm a little more relaxed than i was about the van.
Thank you for the help.

I have heard of occasions when something has hit the sensor at speed, and broken it. IIRC somebody on the forum had a clutch fail, and parts of the clutch plate hit the sensor, and broke it as well.

Still could be a stretched or broken chain. Does it fire on a sniff of easy start ?

I'll get a can and try it ..
If the chain has slipped or stretched does this engine have rockers that will break saving engine damage ?
Is it the same engine as the transit ?
