Ive had that before. The viewing was arranged via txt. If i know its polish then i dont entertain them. They tend to take ages looking over a car, i once even had one take out a tool kit and take the wheels off, then try to get them for nothing. The other thing i hate is them trying to give offers without seeing it, or asking how much do you want? I always put a price on an ad, and never put ono. So if someone txts say in this case its asking 950, if someone txts ill give 600, i reply 1200

I've always been fearless (or foolish :) ) about buying cars from a distance, I'd ask the seller if he thought it would get me the 100/200 miles home and if he said yes I'd take his word for it and just buy, hop on a train do the business and drive it home.

I never had one that failed so I suppose it's just luck.

I seem to have lost the urge to travel for a car now. Out of my French cars listed, I done Cheltenham, Pembroke, and Oxford for 3 of them. It is a laugh I suppose. It's not like you are buying a house...........now that can be a sore head.

You are safe to buy on ebay if you don't mind the possibility of a wasted journey. If when you arrive the car is not as described you don't have to buy it. I bought my first 406 on ebay in Birmingham and it was exactly as described and I ran it for obout 50k miles. The two I have now both came from ebay but were not to far away, one in Bristol and the other from Cornwall, both were at least as described, bargains in my opinion, so I paid my money and took them. My wife always comes with me on a potential purchase so no problem getting both cars home.

Indeed - the vendors not going to suck his teeth, shake his head & say "I wouldn't, If I were you" - now is he?

Well actually I have had that at times, in my experience folk in general are pretty honest but there are of course the exceptions on both sides of the transaction.

I have also done that. I find that describing a car as a shed often ends up selling it quicker and without problems.

I find it better being totally honest. Ive described my leon as rough around the edges and several different shades of black and that the wings have been replaced and painted with a rattle can, but really good mechanically. Getting plenty of calls, only one viewer yet, and he asked if it had been crashed. The only answer i can give is probably lol

I just checked we buy any car just for a laugh. They just offeres £110 for the leon. I just turned down £500 from someone who wanted to break it! So then I put in the 205. Nothing! Then put in the 407. £800. Ive duly had a laugh.

A few days ago Davie, I saw Police in the front garden of a house, on the main road here. The helicopter was out too. Basically a couple had advertised a BMW and took a prospective buyer out a test run. When they returned, another of his chums was there. Threatened couple with a knife and took the car!
I need to adjust my ads for s/h stuff.
No tyre kickers, timewasters, dreamers, test pilots..................or knife weilding scum please!

Must have been an old Beemer, all you need to do now is ask to interigate it for its service history - & it will obligingly provide all the info. you need to come back later & drive it away.
