807 immobiliser fault

Unread post by masterofinsanity »

Hi guys, been 3 years since ive been on here after ditching our Citroen C8 to go Vauxhall but the missus misses the comfort and space of the c8/807 so bought a 807 recently, usual electrickery going on, intermittent tacho and temp gauge and now immobiliser fault which is a pain when you can't start the bugger.

one thing we have noticed today and maybe coincidence but ive stoppe/started the car about 6 times today and every time I've kept my foot off the clutch when starting and no immobiliser fault, is it coincidence or are they linked somehow?

thanks in advance for any advice.

Never a good idea to start with the clutch pressed anyway IMO, maximum thrust load on the crank at the point when there's zero oil pressure... Good practice to start out of gear and no clutch although that shouldn't cause any electrical issues I can think of... Unless of course there's a dodgy connection/broken wire that's getting disturbed by the clutch pedal when pressed, could be worth looking for any bits of loom out of place and getting pinched?

Have you tried using the spare key to rule out a transponder chip issue ?
Might even be worth sticking a transponder aerial on it first, they are cheap & easy to replace.
