Remake of the BBC Radio Show I’m Sorry I’ll Read That Again

Post by Andy F »

Hi all,

I am after a bit of shameless publicity (I have cleared it with the admins- thanks CitroJim!) . I had an unbelievable break in my career as a musician last year and am fortunate enough to be the Musical Director for a best of homage to the original show, I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again. See the Wikipedia link if you can't remember the show, or weren't around when it first aired!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I'm_Sorry ... That_Again

We ran a pilot in Cheltenham earlier in 2016 and have been given a license from the original cast members. In fact, members of the original cast are coming along and doing cameo roles at each venue.

As you can see this has been a fantastic opportunity for me, but not without hours spent transcribing music from the original recordings and arranging, composing and rehearsing the band. So please, if you are able come along, the script is hilarious, the music catchy and it would be great to have some quality Citroens and other interesting vehicles in the car parks!

That brings back memories. Growing up in New Zealand, my brother and I were not allowed to stay up late to listen to ISIRTA, which was inexplicably scheduled at 11pm. My brother however managed to rig up a time switch to turn on his radio and cassette recorder so that we could time-shift it.

I am not sure that I will be able to get to any of the recreated performances (unless a trip to the UK happens to coincide), but best wishes for a successful tour.

Hi everyone, an update.

Last Friday we had our opening show at Chipping Norton, which was a sell out and a great success. We had members of the original cast on stage and lots of the original production team from the BBC came along in the audience (we didn't know they were coming!) and gave us glowing feedback. I can now relax and enjoy the tour knowing the music I have transcribed/ arranged/ written works and my band are fantastic. I'll put the press reviews up when we have them.

We are however, in need of bums on seats for our Bath show at the Komedia on the 6th April, so if you can come along please do.

In Citroen related news, you can fit and an electric piano, amps, trumpet, all the stands, show props and much other band equipment in a Xantia hatchback, poor old thing.

Sorry for the shameless plug.

Congratulations on the great first show.

My bum isn't going to make it but I'm sure you'll fill theses seats.
