Well my easy diagnostics lexia turned up this morning and after two hours phaffing about with windows xp pro trying to find a way to open the files in the two supplied disks I tried them in my main house hold windows 7 ultimate PC they opened up beautifully as win 7 ultimate had its own dedicated ISO file programme included in the bundled software. So back to win 7 ultimate 32 bit by midd afternoon and I now have diagbox installed. Its not l half as intimidating as trying to get it to open and convert ISO files in XP. The 8.15 update disk is a little worrying and I am wondering if I should update from version 7 or not. Great thread by the way its only taken me two days to read to page 50.

I would advise not to upgrade to version 8. It certainly is not needed for your car Nigel and as I have said in previous posts there are features removed from 7.65 on, but your choice. I only use 7.6X myself after finding this out and downgraded.

Dave, 7.58 is a pretty stable version.
Have a look at the change logs I put together on the Wiki for further info:

Yeah I learnt the hard way about upgrading to 8 it requires activation by answering four pop up questions either Y. Or N or yes to all. Thing is the easy diagnostics version 8 DVD says that the four answers are 1)Y. 2) F 3)F 4)Y this does not tally up with the three choices of answers the activation programme gives you. Ie . y for yes n for no or yes to all. So I couldn't activate version 8 which finally made me phone east diagnostics who told me it wasn't worth loading version 8 as it would need a subscription to the PSA website to update it. How is this possible with a activation hack programme? If anyone can actually make it work. Feeling a little ripped off at the mo. It was advertised as being a version 8 lexia not the older version and why didn't easy diagnostics put something about the problems version 8 could cause if loaded up on a piece of paper in the box? Its false marketing to me I'm not to Happy with them at the mo. I was supposed to be showing my lexia to Martin Simon AND Phil at Pleiades after Martin bought a rip off one on the bay. It had games on it. How the hell is it good advertising for a company to lie about the capability of the product they sell. Just goes to show they don't know their product well enough when I was told on the phone today version 8 does not require activation. Oh yes it does. I had to wipe a perfectly good installation and update to go back to the old version
Not funny in the grand scheme of things. I shall now be writing to easy diagnostics asking why they don't seem to know their product to give support ad promised? Explaining the activation issues. Regards. Nigel

Ok, take a breath Nigel....
  • First of all, your Lexia (the hardware itself) will be the latest.
  • Second, Easydiagnostics don't make the software, they just provide you with both versions so you have a choice.
  • As a member, you will have access to the file download area and from there you can download any versions and available updates.
  • Easy have to cater for everyone, so it is up to the individual as to what version they want to use.
  • It has been well covered in the thread about version 8 Nigel - I sometimes feel like a parrot keep repeating it - although I appreciate the thread has grown very large.
The software is made freely available via third parties on the net and is an 'altered' version so that the likes of you and I can use it without paying dealer diagnostic fees.
As I have repeatedly said, PSA are moving over to full remote telecoding operations. Each 'official' version of Diagbox has less local telecoding features available as this goes ahead. So in this case upgrading is not always the best thing to do.

You simply won't need version 8 - even version 7.02 will do up to 2013 year cars and that's probably all you will need.

Oh that's different again to what easy diagnostics told me on the phone today they say 7.02 covers vehicles up to 2015. Think I know who to believe to be perfectly honest. And it ain't easy diagnostics.

May I ask please if I now connect my laptop via Ethernet cable to the net will 7.02 try to update automatically without my starting diagbox. I ask because I'm missing a few windows 7 ultimate updates. Thanks again.

Diagbox won't update automatically Nigel. It will on launch, ask to check for updates. It is then you should choose no. In fact to be safe, it is probably better to disconnect from the Internet when using on the car. This is because like I said, one may go into a certain procedure where it will ask for a technician login and password and if you don't supply it or cancel it, Diagbox will deactivate itself. You then have to copy your licence key back to reactivate it.

It will not update when not launched regardless Nigel.

Well regardless of the very cold weather today I had about 2 hrs playing with the lexia on my mk2 c5 very nearly wiped the ecu completely And had to unplug it to make sure to. I learnt that I have one persistent fault on the injectors apparently there is an earth leak to positive somewhere
Looks like that will be a job for Pleiades as it seems complex. I couldn't work.out how to check the exhaust for blockage with carbon
And the addative fluid level or. When it was last topped up
Regards. Nigel.

But I did update to version 7.57 and I'm wondering if I lost the dpf diagnosis by updating from version 7.02
