I love it. Its practical for my job and for chucking stuff in without bothering too much. Its the possession I've had the longest and I'm hoping to keep it for the next 16 years. Really don't want a modern with all the electronics, of which I have no knowledge. Its a proper keep fit wagon. No pas, windey windows and locks that only work with a KEY. How ancient is that, eh?
Engine is from a Xantia so fits the thread. Bought 7 years ago from a one owner, FSH with 65000 on it. One of the best engines I've ever had. Sits happily at 85 on the motorway. Sorry, WOULD sit happily at 85 if I was allowed to. Only did it France where the limit is higher, coz I iz law biding geeza.

I assumed rightly or wrongly that tbe Xantia Firm on the drop down option on .Service was the van version? I seem to remember a xantia van on one of the rare model auctions? (same one that had the xantia 4x4)
Always liked the pug 504 pick up, although with a family, not practical anymore. But just so cool!

...spotted a few rarities today whilst in Sheringham for the day - lovely place.

First up was this peaking at me from behind an Audi...

...LNA I thought on first glance but unfortunately not!





Next was a very early Xantia - most probably a Sinker. (Sorry for blurry 1st pic)





...and lastly a C15 Van:

My God, on our last holiday to Norfolk the Fiesta, Starlet, Xant' and ZX were all still at the old garage. This was in late 2015, think there was also a Cortina with a smashed screen there...

They went one better with the GS, by then, effectively, converting the Service back into an estate [although the door/window configuration makes them look more like hearses, which may be why they're still (or, at least, were) cheap in France, 'cos nobody liked them - or so I'm led to believe]

In fact, there were 2 BX vans (that I know of) both conversions for different markets - or, rather, tax regimes (Holland & Ireland). The Dutch company went on to convert ZX's.

I think there was a Xantia van, built by one of the firms that did the DS & CX 6-wheelers (& C15's, of course!).

The Chinese include a coachbuilt van in their Xsara range.

Oddity spotted today - and followed half way across Milton Keynes.

It was a Renault, on an old F plate (my mental math makes that out as 64/65?), deep red, immaculate, and rear engined.

I have to confess to not having the foggiest idea what model it is, and I've never seen one before in person, in print or on screen. Spotting a car from that sort of era I don't know at all isn't something that happens to me all that often.

Wound up behind them heading over the A5 from the Shenly Lodge area, and followed for a while. If they had pulled in somewhere local I would have followed to compliment them on a lovely motor, but sadly they didn't, and I peeled off as we were getting towards the far side of town.

I was noticed in the rear view mirror though, and got an enthusiastic thumbs up from the driver.

If you're reading this, 1. I was the guy following you across MK in the Lada, and 2. Your car is beautiful. 3. If you are local, please bring it to one of the shows.

...Speaking of shows, we'll be getting into that season again soon won't we...Need to start planning on what to get to this year.

GOT to get to the Red October show this year if it's on again...Was always hesitant to take the Skoda as I never really trusted it on a long trip, and it's a bit underpowered for the motorway...Lada copes rather better (if considerably more noisily) with such things though...So far more happy to travel a bit. Especially if I can find someone to convoy with.

Zel, that would most likely have been an R8 or an R10

Looks like it's a 10 then! The 8 lacks the silver strip over the tail lights.

Probably right on the year, mental math isn't my strong point!

I can't claim this one, haven't seen a Xantia since last years Chevrons rally.
My daughter took this photo of a new Swedish café in Newcastle - just at the right time as they should have Semlor there - an Easter tradition.
