And one of my favourite songs of time, sung in the way it should be sung. Angrily.. Eleanor Rigby..

I do like what is known in the trade as a decent "Riff", especially the very start of a track. Here are a couple of my favorite openings which probably haven't made it to the conciousness of half the world, from two fantastic guitarists.
Robin Trower

and Larry Carlton

for the Quo Fans in the bar...

For lovers of the riff, the baroom experts could play the Pickled Egg's version of "Name That Tune" with this little selection of "The 100 greatest guitar riffs of all time". I am sure us amateur guitarsmiths would love to be able to reel off 100 riffs like the guy in the video. Some surprising inclusions from AHA, the Police, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Yes, Marillion, Roy Orbison, R.E.M. ColdPlay as well as the usual suspects.

The Pickled Egg-Unplugged gigs.....

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Always on the look out for entertainment to entertain the regulars, and bring in new punters the Landlord of the Pickled Egg is on the lookout for suitable "turns".

This Wintergatan bloke and his marbles could fit the bill. Avant garde and unusual is what the PE is all about!

Regards Neil

From wiki...they seem to classify "the Genre" as Folktronica, but these covers cover many genres and for me its just interesting, innovative and entertaining...
Wintergatan (Swedish pronunciation: [²vɪntɛrˌɡɑːtan], The Milky Way) is a Swedish folktronica band from Göteborg. Martin Molin and Marcus Sjöberg were previously part of the former band Detektivbyrån.

This is a bit of a cheat but very well done.
Found it at about the same time as I read Iain M Banks "The Hydrogen Symphony" and it seemed to mesh with that perfectly.

I see there is a comment that Wintergatan should build one.

Did she appear with Leonard Cohen on Later with Jools Holland doing "Dance me to the end of love"?

One of the finds on the PE Christmas Selection Juke Box for me.

She was with Lennie for years - I saw her and Julie Christensen with him in a concert in Stockholm.
Was listening to him last night that led to that. Only heard it by Harry Belafonte previously.

He was one of mine and my wife's favourites and the one you posted a particular one.
Always makes me rather lachrymose listening to him now.

My wife disliked women singers but liked these two.

Juke Boxes appear to have moved on. The Landlord, while committed to remaining faithful to the old Wurlitzer, and its nostalgic mechanical whirring and scratching, is getting tempted with offers for things like this...

The Icon Ice

You can see how marketing oportunities like this could be turning his head!
The Icon Ice is ideally suited to showcase features such as the Promoter Designer. This allows venue owners to advertise special offers or events on the Icon™ range of jukeboxes, again with the aim of boosting revenue during quiet periods. For example, the pub or the bar landlord may have a special offer on beer during a broadcast game, or wants to organise a bingo afternoon for pensioners. The simple to use templates allow the site manager to compose an effective, striking advertisement on the digital jukebox.
Now the "pensioner pound" could prove quite lucrative! Especially if they could play a few "Perry Como" tracks at the same time.
