Can I ask for Elbows' "One Day" to be added to the Jukebox? After listening to it you cannot help but to feel good for a while. The accompanying video seems a bit strange at first, but taken in context with the song it works;

The Pickled Egg-Inflict the punters with your music!!!

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

It is of course a fringe benefit of putting your shilling into the Pickled Egg jukebox...for a brief period you can inflict your own musical taste on the assembled punters. Similarly you can walk in with your vinyl long players, or 12 inchers if you like and put them on the Hacker in the snug to a similar effect.

But the Pickled Egg also moves with the times, and is no stranger to Spotify, and other such things where you can dredge up virtually any well loved track from your personal musical heritage.

For me, I have been enjoying a revival of one of my favourites from the 1970's. Not glam rock, and for me not really classifyable just fantastic musicianship, and a tremendous depth and quality to their "sound".

Wiki does of course does try and classify it..
The Canterbury scene (or Canterbury Sound) is a subgenre of, or sibling to, progressive rock.[1] The term describes a loosely defined style of music created by a number of improvisational musicians, some of whom were based in the city of Canterbury, Kent, England during the late 1960s and early 1970s.
The band .... are considered a key part of the Canterbury scene, blending psychedelic rock, jazz and classical influences to create a distinctive progressive rock sound.
As the Sex Pistols may have put it "Never Mind the B**llocks" here's Caravan

Recommended listening localion.....Pickled Egg Snug at the end of the evening, Wing back Armchair, Glass of Brandy, lights off only the glowing embers of a log fire. Turned up Loud so the music fills the space and drowns out all extraneous glass clinking and ash tray washing. Try it, this is "The Last Unicorn"

Just been watching some "Blues From The Top" videos - actually an early appearance of what became the Sad Sam Blues Jam.

I was impressed by Kate Moss on the black guitar. :)

And Samantha Fish in the background looking on and smiling - she became a big inspiration and friend to the SSBJ

I like a bit of violin Steve. Caravan feature it heavily in their music. I also have liked your blues examples, bit of a polar opposite to the perfection and purtiy of your Jackie Evancho examples but just goes to show you have a wide musical taste :-D . I did squeeze Muddy Waters onto the original PE Selection list with this classic of its genre track 133...

They are a bit of a contrast aren't they?
My daughter (youngest one) is quite a Muddy Waters fan.
We both love John Lee Hooker:

John Lee and Muddy Waters used to have a friendly rivalry going on over who had the best car and always trying to outdo the other.
It's great to see Sam Fish and her contemporaries keeping up this tradition. She's a monster, happy in her own skin, confident without being bombastic.
Someone commented that she just dives in, turns it up to 11 and worries about how it sounds later, in contrast to most other female musicians.
She is a bit raw and rough around the edges but that is her strength, she's a proper musician, no reliance on playback or autotune, what you see is what you get.

Oddly enough Jackie Evancho is just the same, no reliance on electronickery, she sings live with all the precision of a studio recording. Sneers at autotune :)

Which reminds me of this ^.
Bought it on a 'compilation' LP when I was 15 (1963) and remains a firm favourite.

I do have my personal favorites I keep going back to, but I always like following up on tracks enjoyed and suggested by others, and do a fair bit of exploring myself.

Now quite what the verdict on Spotify is from serious music lovers, but i do find the "free" service I have registered for, and absolutely fantastic resource, and for me the sound quality isn't a problem..is fine.

Got a Willie Dixon album/playlist going at the moment...he's just finished "The Little Red Rooster".

Thanks for the suggestions Sticky and Steve, enjoying them!

She is pretty energetic in most of them, only a few exceptions for quiet songs (Dead Flowers, Wild Horses etc).
Love her on the oil can and cigar box - or anything really.
Was just watching her here:

From energetic to ethereal:

Just bought that album, for this track but it is all quite pleasant.

A new Jackie album scheduled for 31/03/2017 so will have some more inflicting ammunition soon
