The relay box is located under the Engine Fuse Box Alex, as per this parts diagram, usually behind the battery. There will be a plastic cover to remove and then you will see the engine compartment fuses. The relay box (part 3) will be there somewhere and the relay in question should be a green 25 amp one with pins as per the picture below. The replacement relay part number is 6555 33. Click to zoom the pictures up.

I've looked through the posts and I can't see if you've tried a BSI reset. If you haven't done it already try this (thanks to Marc)
•Put the driver's window down, lift the bonnet and ensure all equipment is switched off.
•Ensure all doors are closed and remove key from the ignition.
•Wait for 3 minutes, disconnect the vehicle battery and wait at least a minute.
•Reconnect the vehicle battery, wait a further minute (do not open doors).
•Switch on the side lights through the driver's window.
•Switch on the ignition and check system's functionality.
•Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds.
•Remove key open & close door test central locking system.
•Start the engine and complete the system's check.
•Failure to follow this procedure could result in incorrect operation of many BSI related items.

Hi Paul, thanks for being on the ball as usual, but I decided to email the BSI reset to Alex along with the electrical diagrams he needed, to keep everything together

It's an unusual one this - cheapest fix is going to be replacing a relay for sure me thinks, then progress from there. This Comms 2000 unit will be one of the earlier ones - so if the original then it may be failing due to wear and tear - although none of the other more common issues seem to be happening according to Alex... so let's see.

Hello guys!
I did the reset first as per Marc's instructions.
No help there.
Met a car electrician today, he checked everywhere and came to the conclusion that it is the bsi.
He said
"I can't fix it today, I need1-2 days. If I succeed 200 euro"
Didn't have any alternatives really

Well, that MAY be a next step, but normally a last resort after trying the other things first. A relay isn't going to cost you much to try. One thing you need to be aware of though - normally the BSIs are replaced as they are pretty much sealed units - however if he is going to break into it and attempt to repair it, and he breaks it in the process, your car will require a replacement BSI, a matched Engine ECU and new key transponders. Your car won't start otherwise.

I must admit that i was a bit worried but on the other side he seemed to be quite aware of where everything was in the car, checked the fuses on the BSI without ever wasting a second to wonder where it was located.
If he breaks the BSI, why won't it still be possible to change it? Can i -worse case senario- purchase a bsi online based on my VIN?

Re: backlights, flashes are OFF, stoplights work.HELP!
The BSIs are coded to the Engine ECU and the transponder chips. They are coded and matched and you need a matching set. This is why they are mainly sold as a set on the second hand spares market. They can't normally be recoded. A new one is usually ordered from the dealer and is coded acording to your VIN. Once this is done it won't work in any other vehicle. New ones are expensive and may not be available depending on the type of BSI and age of your car. I can check availability and price in the morning for you.

I would be very grateful for that, thanks. At least to see if there is a viable alternative,

OK, as I suspected the ANC Control box (on your model) is no longer available (Part 6580 J4), so another reason to be careful with the one you have. Double check all your connections are secure and clean near and around the engine fuse box too - sometimes the connectors can work loose. This is another reason why getting mechanic with a Lexia to diagnose it is essential now.

Re: backlights, flashes are OFF, stoplights work.HELP!
Thanks Marc. He actually did that first, connected to the obdii and checked the errors. Then he erased the errors and checked again.
There was a ''turn-indicator'' short-circuit error left and right and he checked everywhere for an electrical problem which would be easier to fix but...

Ok, well at least the error has been identified. Given the age of the car, it is not uncommon for the wiring to suffer breakages. Getting a multimeter on the circuit and to find the short is probably a good bet if not already tried.

Yeah he did that first because he thought it was electrical but no avail
