Just been on " Franzoesische - Klassiker " de online gsa parts section, and they are showing your type of gsa door mirror in stock. 79.25 euros for the rear o/s door mirror ( with internally adjusted cable type ) and 69.00 euros for the rear right door mirror ( with the internally adjusted cable type )
You might have to check for their " suitability " for your car and model etc etc.
I hope this helps
I have come across that website - a bit pricey but if it has a convex glass, it might be worth it.
I had a car with no external mirrors for a decade and it wasn't so bad but then it was 3 box design with hardly any blind spot (Fiat 125)...
I'll send them an email and see what they say.

Re: Stickyfinger's post: What might scupper that solution is that the two halves are held together by a domed screw that is threaded into the lower portion. The screw may be able to be retained in its present axis, but due to the 'new' face angle no longer at 90° to the screw axis, would prevent any rotation against the friction washer clamped between the two halves. I'm happy to live with it as is.

Bought a LHD one from Leboncoin thru a French pal. It's missing a couple of bits (base cover plate & gasket and possibly base plate nut (unless it is already there in the door)) but otherwise I'm happy.
Will upload photos when Photobucket is back to it normal self.

Items 5 & 7 are missing, and either 9 or 10. Not sure 8 is built in the door.

Ok... installed the mirror this afternoon BUT!
Bad news 1.Image
Made a bit of a boo boo with the cutting the hole out... I made a template from RHS mirror as best as I could (not as easy as I thought it would be with mirror on etc etc) but either LHS location is slightly off or I screwed up quite badly.

Good news 1.
The base covered up the mess nicely.
Image
Because of the funky big screw with the hex head and the adjustment cables going through the middle, the installation called for a special tool MR. 630-12/49 or in this case a dodgy homemade tool.
Image
Tool in action - worked surprisingly well.
Image
Everything in place, except for the trim, which was missing from the mirror kit but no big deal.

Bad news 2. WTF moment of the day but I was warned by Stonehopper earlier in the thread albeit his was GS, not GSA.
Image
There are a whole bunch of different part numbers for mirrors but not sure which is for what - obviously LH drive driver's mirror doesn't work with RH drive. I think it's safe to assume doors are manufactured for all markets.
Now I'll have to hunt for RH drive estate or enterprise mirror...

Anyway, I made a hole template (correct this time) on a mylar sheet - I'll post a scanned copy in case someone else decides to venture out on this minefield...

I think that the problem is that the passenger side mirror should be mounted further back along the door than the drivers mirror (for both LHD and RHD).

Maybe there are two female threaded fittings inside the door, one for LHD and the other for RHD. I'll have to stick my hand in there for feel.
Still, it would have to be at least a couple of inches aft of the current position.

UPDATE - I could feel something that could be a fitting, around 2 inches aft (center to centre). The access is pretty much non-existant from inside and the only way I can find out if it is actually there is open up another hole.
Too bad for me though, the base is not long enough to cover both holes, so I'm stuck with a useless mirror...

Still doing more research - short of cutting open a rusted spare door, there isn't a definite way to find the solution but I think I'm onto something...

Wow, I didn't realise some GS's (especially in NZ) came with no passenger side wing mirror!

In NZ in the family we had a 1974 GS Club Estate RHD 1220, a 1977 G-Special Estate LHD 1129cc, (mine) a 1975 GS Club Estate RHD retrofitted with a GSA 1299cc engine and 5 speed box, a 1983 GSA RHD hatch back, and I also saw and drove several other GS's that Dad repaired for other people back in the day. Every single one of them had both wing mirrors factory fitted, and I've never seen or heard of one without both mirrors...surely no passenger wing mirror wasn't legal in NZ even in the 70's ?

Maybe an optional extra. My GS Pallas has only the driver side mirror. Not having the passenger side is a bit of a pest, but I cannot bring myself to hack my door up to fit it.

I had a '68 Fiat 125, it didn't have ANY external mirrors and there is no requirement for it. According to the current legislation, a car needs either driver's side external mirror OR interior mirror if manufactured before 2000!!! Bonkers!
I don't have any info on NZ spec GS/As but looks like hatchbacks got driver's side mirror only and estates/vans got both. This is looking at a lot of photos on Google image search (which is by no means a definite source).
Most of GSAs I've seen around don't have passenger side mirror and the one that has was retrofitted, he has a similar issue with the mirror sitting far too forward, obscuring some of the mirror glass.
More to come...
